BREVET D'INVENTION
EMI1.1
EMI1.2
.: .-...... ----.........-----------....- Société dite: SUPERIOR CONCRETE A CeE S S 0 RIE S, 'I N C.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

<Desc/Clms Page number 14>

<Desc/Clms Page number 16>

trables in other corner portions of the panel, and after hardening of the poured concrete, a framework whereby the slab or panel can be releasably connected to a crane or similar lifting device so that this slab can be first raised while in a horizontal position,
then inclined to come to occupy a vertical position close to the concrete floor slab, in order to form the main part of a building or of another concrete building, the lifting device constituting the counterpart of the anchoring system being formed by a vertically elongated tubular part provided with a handle in which is mounted a vertically sliding locking rod provided at its lower end with a T-shaped head. This can be housed in the anchoring system such that by imparting a rotational or twisting movement to this rod, its T-shaped head must come to be placed in temporary entanglement relation with respect to the anchoring system.
After this entanglement or interlocking relationship has been achieved, a nut screwing onto the upper end of the rod can be tightened against the upper end of the tubular piece to prevent disengagement of the entangled parts as long as the nut is not loose.
In general, the aim of the invention is to provide the building industry with an anchoring system with a lifting device in which the two constituent elements of the assembly have a new construction and

then inclined to come to occupy a vertical position near a concrete floor slab during the construction of a concrete building or more generally of an industrial installation. For this purpose, the anchoring system 10 is designed with a view to temporary cooperation with the lifting device 12 of new construction which is represented by lig. 2 to
7 ..
The anchoring system 10 comprises in its general structure two intersecting pairs of parallel rods 14 and 16 which form counter-bends and are joined by welding in the regions of their intersection. The rods of each pair are fairly widely spaced and form the support of the anchoring system so that the latter can rest on the foundation or the upper surface of a slab or panel shaper 18 (pre-formed concrete floor slab) as this is shown in fig. 4 and 5. The rods 16 are spaced less widely than the rods 14 and all the rods are insert rods which lie widely distributed in the concrete wall slab S after the concrete has been poured over the mold or shaper. 18.
The regions

medians 20 of the stems !! are rectilinear and extend horizontally, while their end regions are sloping as shown at 22, then slope upward as indicated at 24 to form two V-shaped legs which are lined with elastomeric sleeves 26.
These sleeves are intended to cover those metal feet which would otherwise be exposed to the lower surface of the concrete wall slab S and could undergo corrosion which may leave traces of rust on this surface due to the 'oxidation.
The rods 16 of the anchoring system 10 are provided with curved middle regions 30 in the form of inverted angles or Vs and connect to rectilinear horizontal intermediate parts 32. These intermediate parts 34 face upwards. The tops of the upturned V-shaped middle regions 30 provide downwardly oriented stop shoulders 36 which are intended to provide interlocking cooperation with counterpart shoulders provided on the associated lifting device 12.
As clearly represented by Figs. 1, 6 and 8, the middle regions of the rods 16 serve to support thereon a cup-shaped cage 40 which is made of a suitable moldable thermoplastic material and is molded in place directly onto the rods 16 of the anchoring system 10.
The purpose of this cage is to create an empty space in the mass of poured concrete within which the

During the operation of the assembly described here, consisting of the union of the anchoring system 10 and the lifting device 12 if we want to shape a concrete slab or panel such as the wall slab S, we mounts - the shaper in the usual way and at each location of the shaper where an anchor point must be made in the finished slab,
an anchoring system 10 is placed, the plastic cage 40 of which is molded in position on the foundation of the shaper 18 under conditions such that the four elastomeric sleeves 26 rest on the upper surface of this foundation. A screen 100 with an upturned profile in cup forzae excluding concrete and made of a suitable plastic material with a certain flexibility is placed in the upper peripheral region of the cage 40 of each anchoring system so as to overflow. vertically upwards to the level of the upper surface of the slab to be shaped.
This screen 100 is opposed to any entry of poured concrete inside the cage 40; it is provided with a finger or a flexible claw 101 rising upwards and ensuring its positioning, integral with its upper wall and projecting above the level of the upper surface of the slab to be shaped. The concrete is poured into the shaper 18 according to the desired thickness, then it is subjected to the ordinary operation of leveling to level the upper surface of the slab or of the panel. During this operation, the flexible claws
101 flex as the plank passes over it as shown in dotted lines, and after each claw 101 is released, it returns to its erect state.
These claws 101 form positioning elements which

in the form of cups, Zes anchoring systems 10 are then ready to cooperate by interlocking with the corresponding lifting devices 12 forming their counterparts for the purpose of lifting, this operation being carried out by lowering these devices 12 through the end through the cylindrical channels 102, then by manipulating the rods 72 as described in detail above, ¯ Lowering each lifting device 12

e shown in fig, 7 # the operator must exert a pressure from top to bottom on the rod 72 in order to make it descend imperatively despite the antagoinsme of the plunger piston 84 subjected to the action of a spring and forcing the head 74 in T to be lowered

. below the middle V-shaped regions 30 of the rods 16 thereby compressing the spring 92. As soon as this T-shaped head has thus cleared these middle ribs 30, the operator rotates the rod 72 clockwise. so as to bring the axis of this T ton head transversely to the vertical planes of the rods 16.
At this point, the T-shaped head 74 is placed below the middle regions 30 of the lines 16, so that when a force is stopped on the rod 72, the plunger 84 subjected to the action of the rod. spring raises this rod 72 to bring it to the position which is represented by the pins 4 and 5, that is to say that the upper faces of the head 74 in the form of a T on either side of the rod 72 bear upwards against the middle regions 30 of the rods 16.

flats 112 disposed opposite to each other which, when the T-shaped head 74 is disposed below the level of the middle regions 30 of the rods 16, can engage against the sides of these middle regions and limit the amount of angular movement in the clockwise direction of which the rod 72 is capable.
Likewise, two flats 114 arranged opposite one another on the lower region of this rod, limit the amplitude of the angular movement in the counterclockwise direction of which this rod is capable.
114 are placed perpendicular to the flats 112 and form with these latter two diametrically opposed square angles, the other two angles being rounded or having a convex curvature as shown in FIG. 9.
The four flats 112 and 114 cooperate to restrict the angular rotational movement of the rod 72 to about 90 when the T-shaped head is below the level of the middle regions 30 of the rods 16, so that the operator does not may inadvertently go beyond the proper locking position of the T-shaped head and the disengaged position of this head when it disengages the lifting device 12 from the flooded anchoring system 10.

the latter is moved upwards by the shackle under the influence of the crane or the lifting device mounted above.
By the time the hook has been attached to the shackle 57 and the lifting operations have begun, the rod 72 and the nut 80 absorb all of the downward pulling force of the anchor system 10 and the mass of hardened concrete slabs or wall panels S which is served by the embedded anchoring system considered here in particular.
After the slab or panel S has been lifted to the vertical position .. which it assumes during the construction of the wall, the interlocking between the lifting device 12 and the anchoring system 10 ceases. can be effected by releasing the nut 80 to such an extent that a downward pressure exerted on the rod 72 allows the latter to be lowered despite the elastic stress of the plunger 84 in order to stop the engagement of the rod. T-shaped head with the middle regions of the two rods 16. The rod 72 can then be moved 90 by the operator in the counterclockwise direction in order to bring the flats 114 against the sides of the middle regions 30 of the rods 16 .
At this time, the T-shaped head assumes an angular position of coincidence with the narrow space existing between these two rods, then the entire lower region of the lifting device 12 can be released by an upward and axially relative to the anchoring system 10 and also to the channel 102 through which it was initially introduced. The decent of the lifting device 12 relative to the anchoring system 10 unmasks the channel 102 which can then be filled with a suitable packing cement or otherwise be plugged.
The lifting device 12 once removed is reusable during a

subsequent lifting of slabs for a different wall installation,
It should be noted that, thanks to the SE nut in the form of a spherical cap and the conjugate seat 81 of the same volume, slight differences in the alignment by pulling of the chain or the lifting cable associated with the crane mounted at- The top and the axis of the rod 72 can be adjusted without danger and without the risk that unequal pressure is exerted on the upper face of the concrete slab S during the lifting operations, As shown in fig. 5, a significant space is formed between the threaded rod 72 and the surrounding bore 70 in the housing 50.
Thus, in the event that the anchoring system 10 does not apply square against a horizontal foundation surface, there may be a slight inclination of the rod 72 after it has fallen. found locked in relation to the anchoring system, Using a nut in the form of a spherical cap and a conjugate seat of the same shape, this misalignment of the rod 72 can be accommodated and an equal pressure of the support flange 54 on the upper face of the concrete slab or S-panel is reached. Otherwise, if uneven pressure is applied to a corner part of a. slab or a freshly hardened panel, there is a danger of fracture of the concrete mass.
The details of realization can be modified, without departing from the invention, in the field of technical equivalences.
