<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
L'aimant
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
terrupteur 57.
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

"Device for keeping open the gas valves mounted on the safety switches of thermoelectric safety gas burners"
The invention relates to a device for keeping open the gas valves mounted on the safety switches of gas burners with thermoelectric safety from the moment of commissioning of the burners until the heating of the thermoelements of the circuit. electric thermoelectric safety.
The object of the present invention is to provide a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
particularly simple device by means of which a gas valve mounted on a gas safety disconnect switch can be kept open for the period required to heat up the thermoelements of the thermoelectric safety electric circuit, When the thermoelement is heated, then it is which keeps the gas valve open. This device ultimately serves to give maximum safety with regard to the flow of unburned gas and enables great simplicity of construction and use.
The solution according to the invention consists in that, until momert from which the gas valve can be kept open by the thermostat itself, the valve remains open from the moment the burner is put into service. that an independent power supply assembly supplies the thermoelectric safety electric circuit and thus the thermoelements themselves. The independent power supply assembly is then cut automatically. The first opening of the gas valve, when the combustion point is put into service, is done, in this case, either by quickly actuating a push-button switch manually or, in the case of burners with remote control. tomatic, by a current pulse given to an auxiliary magnet.
For burners started manually, the device according to the invention represents the very considerable advantage that, first of all, a short action of the control button is sufficient to open the gas valve and then the gas valve. keep open, so that the action, current until now, inconvenient on the control button until the moment when the thermo-magnet of the electrical safety circuit responds is canceled.
For burners with automatic start-up there is the advantage that a short response of the auxiliary magnet caused by a current pulse is sufficient to open the gas valve for the first time and then to keep it open. The magnet
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
auxiliary can then be immediately cut off again.
Most stoves and other heating devices today feature a combination of manually operated burners and self-connecting burners.
Here, for the device according to the invention, it is of an absolutely considerable advantage that for the thermoelectric safety electric circuit of all the burners, regardless of their mode of actuation, a single independent current supply unit is necessary. Therefore, the fault protection devices resulting in the escape of unburned gas are only needed once.
To prevent, in this case, that the different thermoelectric safety circuits. inadvertently influence each other the different thermo-magnets, according to an additional feature of the invention, are supplied by the supply unit with independent current, in parallel and each by the intermediate a resistance wire whose ohmic resistance is considerably higher than the resistance of each of the different coils of the thermo-magnets.
Other important features of the invention emerge from the following description. They concern in particular the installation of the automatic shut-off of the independent power supply unit as well as the safety devices which, in all circumstances, prevent an unwanted escape of unburned gas.
The single figure of the accompanying drawing represents an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
In this example, there are three burners 1, 2, 3 supplied by a main gas line 4 with by-passes to the burners 5, 6, 7. The burners 1, 2 are manually switched on, the burner 3 automation. In the pipes of the burners are arranged, in a known manner, relief valves.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
gas control 8, 9, 10. Between the gas control valves 8, 9, 10 and the outlet ports of the burners 1, 2, 3 are safety gas isolators 11, 12, 13. thermoelectric safety currents are connected to each of the burners
1,2, 3.
The thermoelements of the burners 1, 2 are connected, each time, by pipes 17,18 or 19,20 with the thermo-magnets 21, and 22. The connection of the thermoelement 16 for the burner 3 with the magnet 23 is made by pipes 24, 25,
26 and the switch 27 of a chronometric control device
28.
Each thermo-magnet 21, 22, 23 is, according to the invention connected, moreover, by a resistance wire 29, 30, 31 and a common pipe 32, with the transformer 33 of a unit. independent current supply 73, the current return circuit being made by the diodes 34a and 34b and the ground. Every ; burner is added, in a known manner, an ignition electrode
35,36, 37 which is, each time, connected via a resistor 38, 39, 40 as well as by a line 41,42, 43 with the ignition transformer 44, the return circuit of the current being made not the mass.
A timing relay 45 is / connected by lines 46, 47,
48 and a micro-switch 49 with the AC network.
The microswitch is put into the closed position by pressing on any one of the contact buttons 50 or 51 by means of a rocker 52 and, as soon as it is released, by the elastic force, it returns to its original position. starting position.
The transformer 33 and the ignition transformer 44 are connected to the alternating current network by the lines 46,
53, 54, a switch 55 of the time relay 45 and a switch 56 of the chronometric control mechanism 28 and an interlocker 57.
The timing control mechanism 28 includes a motor 58 which receives the current through lines 59, 60, 61 and the in-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
switch 57.
The current is diverted to the auxiliary magnets 62 for automatic switching on of the burner 3 via the pipes 60, 61, 63, 64 and the switches 57 and 65.
If the chronometric control mechanism is replaced by a timing relay 66, the connections marked in Roman numerals must be unscrewed or connected again. The time delay relay 45 then receives the current not only by the microswitch 49, but also by the switch 67 of the time delay relay 66.
The switches 65 and 27-of the timing control mechanism are replaced by the switches 68 and 69 of the time relay 66.
The commissioning of burners 1 and 2 is done in the same way.
The operation of the burner will be described below.
The gas control valve 8 is set to the chosen burner flow position and then the switch button 50 is pressed (in the direction of the arrow), which opens the gas valve 70 and pushes an anchor plate 71 against the pole faces of the thermo-magnet 21. At the same time, the rocker 52 engages the micro-switch 49 and thus the relay, time-delayed 45. When the push on the contact button 50 is abandoned, the return of the latter. This under the pressure of the spring 72 can then be done immediately, according to the invention, which means that the micro-switch 49 returns to the "cut" position.
Relay 45 remains in the closed position until the end of its time delay. The transformer 44 and the transformer of the independent power supply unit 33 are energized. The transformer 33 supplies, according to the invention, direct current to the thermo-magnet 21, via the lines 29, 32, and the diodes 34a, 34b and the ground, this voltage maintains, by the corresponding magnetic attraction, the anchor plate 71. from the action performed at the start on the contact button 50 con-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
be the force for closing the spring 85, so that the gas valve 70 remains open.
The energized ignition transformer 44 causes, as is known, sparks on the electrode 35 and the gas which leaves the burner 1 is instantly ignited.
The lit flame heats up the thermoelement 14 and it then supplies the thermo-magnet 21 with direct current, too.
After some 4 to 7 seconds of heating, the voltage is so high that it is enough on its own to hold the anchoring plate 71 against the thermo-magnet 21. The direct current coming from the transformer 33 as well as the diodes 34a and 34b is then no longer necessary. It is switched off after a slightly extended period for safety reasons (eg 10 seconds) by the expiration of the time delay period of relay 45, so that ignition transformer 44 is also switched off.
The necessary delay in tripping of the time delay relay 45 can be caused in the known manner by capacitor discharge (not shown) or also according to the principle of automatic stair switches, pneumatically or by an electromagnetic delay mechanism.
To get by, for a larger quantity of burners, for example three on a single gas stove, with a single independent current supply unit 73, according to the invention, the direct current connection coming from the diodes 34a and 34b is made from the branch point 74 towards the different thermomagnets 21, 22, 23 by resistance wires 29, 30, 31, the ohmic resistance of each of which is so high that the thermal voltage The electric of one of the thermoelements is only transmitted to the corresponding thermo-magnet and only a transmission to the other existing thermo-magnets, 'which would receive current without the corresponding flames being armed, the thermoelec security - stick being canceled, is practically excluded.
The ohmic resistance of each resistance wire 29, 30,
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
31, should then be 50 times greater, at least, than the resistance of a coil 75 of a thermo-magnet 21, 22 or 23.
If the time delay relay 45, after expiry of the time delay period, following a failure, does not cut off or if its switch is overloaded by bypassing a line shutdown, the thermo-magnets 21 , 22, 23, via the transformer 33 and the diodes 34a and 34b, receive a direct voltage, which eliminates the thermoelectric safety because in this case, despite the lack of thermoelectric voltage, there is a maintenance in place of the anchor plate 71.
In order, even in this case, to force a trip of the transformer 35 after a determined period during which the unburnt gas, in the event of a failure of the ignition device or the like, cannot yet cause damage, the transformer 33 is, according to the invention, equipped for short-term service. The heating of the network winding 76 of the transformer 33 is so high that it would burn out after about 2 minutes. A heat detector 77, mounted on the winding of the network, cuts the latter after about 1.5 minutes, relative to the network, so that destruction is avoided in this way. Switching back on takes place automatically after sufficient automatic cooling by the heat detector 77.
As the heating of the network winding 76 depends on its reception of current, it is necessary to make the latter independent of the secondary load which could, following an interruption of lines 29, 30, 31, 32, etc. be reduced, so that in this case sufficient heating of the network coil 76 would be eliminated.
The stacking of sheets of transformer 33 comprises, for this house? according to the invention, a largely dimensioned distance of at least 0.5mm. In this way, for a cerrectly calculated number of turns of the winding of the network 76, the reactive current becomes so high that the influence evoked by the secondary load

is practically avoided.
The exemplary embodiment shown presents an additional burner 3 which can be put into service automatically by a switch 57, respectively by a control timer 78, as explained below.
The gas control valve 10 is manually set to the desired position (gas flow). The burner 3 is put into service by switching on the switch 57 at a predetermined period, which can be done either manually or by the control timer 57, the motor 58, which by doing so is energized, the timing control mechanism 28 then rotates the cam washers 79, 80, 81, from which, after about 1 to 3 seconds, the switches 56, 65 and 27 are actuated. Switch 56 turns on ignition transformer 44 and transformer 33 of independent power supply unit 73. Switch 27 closes the thermoelectric safety electric circuit.
The cam washer 80 is shaped such that the switch 65 is only engaged for a short time (about 0.5 seconds). The resulting shock of tension on the auxiliary magnet allows its armature 82 to be attracted and lets it fall due to its own weight or a spring. Due to the single displacement of the armature, by the push rod 83 occurs the opening of the gas valve 84 and the support of the plate 71 against the pole faces of the thermo-magnet
23. Due to the direct voltage which already exists in the thermomagnet 23; from transformer 33 and diodes 34a and
34b, the anchor plate 71 is held in spite of the closing force of a spring 85, in which case the gas valve 84 remains open.
The gas which comes out is ignited by the ignition sparks of electrode 37. The engine 58, which continues to run, arrives, after about 10 seconds, at the final position at which it is braked until l complete stop by a stop. In this final position, the switch 56 is again open, so that the transformer

ignition switch and transformer 33 are again switched off. In the event that this does not occur due to some fault, the described configuration of the transformer 33 and of the thermo-sensor 77 here also avoids an inadvertently long escape of the unburnt gas.
After this 10 second period, during smooth operation, the corresponding thermoelement 16 is heated to such an extent that it can undertake the transmission of the supply current to the thermo-magnet 23 and thus the maintenance of the. opening of the gas valve 84. If the burner is put out of service by actuating the switch 57 by hand or by the timer 78, the motor 58 is switched off and a return spring 86 is activated. turn the cam washers 79, 80 and 81 to their starting position, so that the switch 27 opens again and the thermoelectric safety electric circuit is interrupted. The thermo-magnet is triggered so that the spring 85 returns the gas valve 84 to its closed position and thus stops the flow of gas.
The chronometric control mechanism 28 can be replaced by a time delay relay 66. It is then only necessary to unscrew the connections identified by Roman numerals, respectively to connect them.
The burner 3 is commissioned in the same way as according to the embodiment with the chro- control mechanism. nominal 28, by turning on switch 57 manually or by means of the control timer 78. The time relay 66, the time relay 45 and the auxiliary magnet 62 receive the current together. The auxiliary magnet 62 and the time relay respond immediately, so that the latter energizes the ignition transformer 44 and the transformer 33. The auxiliary magnet 62 has opened the valve 84 so that the gas can come out and be ignited by the ignition sparks from electrode 37.
With a slight delay of 0.2 to 0.5 seconds, the timing relay 66 re-

also lays and it instantly closes the electric thermoelectric safety circuit by the switch 69, so that the direct current coming from the transformer 33 by the diodes 34A and 34b arrives at the thermo-magnet 23 and the anchor plate, despite the The closing action of the spring 85, is held in place, while the armature 82, by the pusher 83, again releases the gas valve 84, by the simultaneous triggering of the auxiliary magnet 62.
Due to the closing of the time delay relay 66, by its switch 67, the current has also been cut off to the time delay relay 45 which, after expiry of the delay period of about 10 seconds, trips and, in this way, cuts both the ignition transformer 44 and the transformer 33, with respect to the network. When the burner 3 is taken out of service by switch 57, the time delay relay 66 no longer receives any current and trips instantaneously so that the thermoelectric safety electric circuit is interrupted by switch 69 The thermo-magnet 23 is switched off, so that the spring 85 can bring the gas valve 84 into the closed position and thus cut off the gas supply.
If the auxiliary magnet 62, due to a fault, remains energized for a longer time, the gas valve 84 cannot close due to the attraction of the armature which has occurred. te, in the event that this closing is necessary due to the passage of unburned gas. However, due to the fact that the auxiliary magnet 62, due to the supply of the thermo-magnet 23 with direct current coming from the transformer 33 and the diodes 34a and 34b, only needs to be under voltage for one short period, during the commissioning of the burner, advantageously, the winding 87 of the auxiliary magnet 62 can be produced in such a way that during a lasting tension, after a long period (for example 20 seconds ) it burns out due to too high heat and thus the magnetic force is lost.
Thermoelectric safety is thus guaranteed in all cases.
