<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

improvement in the air bubble level ".
The present invention relates to an air bubble level, provided with a protractor and a marker needle
The water levels and the existing bubble levels are used to verify or achieve the horizontality and verticality of the plane, or to determine the difference in height between two points.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
These instruments do not make it possible to control the angle of slope of a plane, of one material in relation to another, or to fix any angle,
The object of the present invention is to remedy this shortcoming, while retaining the usual shape of the air bubble level, by incorporating a graduated protractor, the air bubble moving in a tube in a segment of a circle. and not in a straight tube,
Depending on the position of the level, the air bubble moves in the semicircular tube in order to occupy the highest point. The middle of the air bubble indicates the desired gradient angle. Its reading is facilitated by the graduations.
The embodiment of the invention is described below, with reference to the accompanying drawing.
In a slat or a rail (1), made of wood, metal or any other rigid and non-elastic material, is mounted a tube in a segment of a circle, of a size such as to allow the indication of 15 on both sides. other of the horizontal diameter.
The tube is filled with a very mobile liquid (alcohol or ether) leaving an air bubble, calculated to cover the space of ten degrees, during the graduation of the tube (see below).
The tube (2) is fixed and protected by two panes or glasses crimped into a metal frame or frame (copper, aluminum or any other rigid material and not varying, or very little, to temperature differences),
Graduations by degree or 5 degrees are carried on the two external faces of the tube or the two glasses after calibration,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The degree indication is made in two sections of 90 degrees, 0 being in the middle of the curve for the first, and 0 to 180 degrees starting from left for the second (3 & 4).
A reference needle (5) is mounted on either side of the tube, between the latter and the protective glass, on an axis (6) fixed in the glasses or windows, in the center of the internal and external circle segments that forms the tube.
A button (7) is used to move the two reference hands and indicate the desired angle.
After the level has been calibrated, the tube - marker needles - protective glass device is fixed by means of the adjustment and fixing via (8).
A look (9) makes it possible to see the position of the air bubble (10) from the upper face of the tool during its use, for checking the horizontality of the planes,
Figure 1 shows an air bubble level on which the graduations have been made in groups of five degrees, the tens being indicated by a line double that of the five degrees, which divides the tube into equal parts.
Only tens are indicated in order to allow easy reading of angles.
The length of the bubble level thus produced has not been shown, because like / the bubble level, it is empirical.
FIG. 2 shows the section in its center of a level produced according to the inventor's principle.
The reference needles are placed between the tube and the protective glass to avoid visual errors, and also because of their fragility.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described, and that modifications can be made to the latter, without departing from the scope of the present patent.
One could in particular provide a circular tube with a graduation in sectors of 90 or 180 degrees and a graduation of 360 degrees, the latter being incorporated totally or partially in the slat or support rail.
