<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a seal for a screwed stopper cap.
There are already known devices for closing flasks, tubes and other containers which essentially comprise

The present invention aims essentially to remedy this drawback by providing a seal of particularly simple design and providing a significantly improved seal.
For this purpose, this seal for a screwed closure cap, which comprises a transverse bottom and a

cylindrical skirt having an internal thread screwed onto a corresponding thread provided on the external surface of the neck of a container, this seal having a central part partially penetrating into the orifice of the container and which is secured to a transverse annular flange coming from in contact with the front face of the neck of the container, is characterized in that the transverse annular flange carries on its face which is in contact with the front face of the neck of the container, a rib

and brace yourself against this net. According to a complementary characteristic of the invention, the attachment member is constituted by a tapered frustoconical outer skirt, diverging inwardly, that is to say, the small base of which is attached to the annular collar. This skirt can also be replaced with hooking tabs distributed around the periphery of the seal.
The seal according to the invention offers the advantage that, when it is ± shaved against the end of the neck of a container, as a result of the screwing of the cap on this neck, it defines three distinct sealing lines, namely a first circular area where the central part of the seal contacts the internal surface of the neck defining the outlet orifice, a second intermediate sealing area defined by the point of contact of the circular rib,
with a straight V-shaped section, with the front face of the neck, and a third sealing zone defined by the contact zone of the external fastening member and the external edge of the neck of the container.
Furthermore., The external attachment member (s) of the seal ensure the blocking and locking of the seal in the bottom of the capsule, after the latter has been clamped on the neck of the container, due to the fact that this or these members are braced behind part of the last thread of the capsule.
The seal according to the invention makes it possible to eliminate the cork seal which has always been provided until now in the bottom of the capsule and which was permanently attached to the latter.
Various embodiments of the present invention will be described below, by way of nonlimiting examples, with reference to the appended drawing in which:
FIG. 1 is an axial sectional view of a stopper cap provided with a seal according to the invention and screwed onto the thread of a neck of a container.
FIG. 2 is a view in axial section of an alternative embodiment.
FIG. 3 is a partial axial sectional view of another variant embodiment.
Figures 4 and 5 are sectional views of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
capsule and in elevation of the neck of the container, respectively before screwing, at the bottom of the capsule and after unscrewing the latter.
As shown in Figure 1, the stopper 1 comprises a transverse bottom 2 extended by a cylindrical skirt 3 which loses, on its internal surface, a thread.
4 come molded with the rest of the capsule. The cap 1 is screwed onto the end part of the neck 5 of a receptacle which carries a corresponding thread 6. This receptacle may be a flask, a bottle, a tube, etc., made of hard material, for example glass or made of hard plastic.
In the bottom of the capsule 1 is arranged a seal 7 which has a central part in the form of a bowl, which is constituted by a transverse bottom 8, engaged in the orifice of the neck 5, and a side wall 9, appro - ximatively truncated, with curved meridian, tooth the small base 9b is connected to the bottom 8.
The frustoconical part 3 of the seal forms an integral, by its large base 9a, with an annular transverse flange 11, which is itself extended in the direction of the small base 9b of the frustoconical part 9, that is to say of the neck 5 of the container., by an intermediate circular rib
12, with a straight v-shaped section, and by an external trenconque skirt
13, tapered straight section. The small base 13a of the external frustoconical skirt 13 is located in the same transverse plane as the base 12a of the intermediate circular rib 12 and as the large base 9a of the frustoconical party 9.
Furthermore., The large base 13b of the external frustoconical skirt 13 is located in the same transverse plane as the small base 9b of the frustoconical part 9, that is to say that the lower face 8a of the bottom
8 of seal 7.
@ As can be seen in Figure 1, there are three contact areas, in other words sealing, between the seal 7 and the end of the neck 5 of the container.
The first sealing zone A is deflected by the location of the points of contact between the frustoconical part 9 of the seal 7 and the orifice of the neck 5: in other words, this sealing zone corresponds to the internal ridge of the end of the neck 5 which defines the outlet opening of the container.
The second sealing zone B is defined by the location of the contact points of the ridge of the circular rib
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
12, with a straight V-shaped section, with the front face 5a of the neck 5 of the container.
Finally, the third sealing zone C is defined by the location of the points of contact of the frustoconical internal surface 13c of the external skirt 13, with the external edge, preferably rounded, formed at the location of the connection of the. the front wall 5a and the side wall 5b of the neck 5.
It can therefore be seen, from the foregoing, that the overall tightness provided by the seal 7 is notably improved, compared to previously known seals, due to the provision of the three successive sealing zones A , B and C.
Furthermore, the edge 13b of the frustoconical outer skirt 13, which defines the large base of this skirt, also serves to lock the seal 7 in the bottom of the capsule 1. In fact, this edge 13b passes, at a certain place behind the net
4 of the capsule 1 and in a way forms, at this location, an anarage member ensuring the locking of the seal 7 in the bottom of the capsule.
In other words, once this cap provided with the seal 7 has been screwed and tightened on the extract of the neck 5 of the container, the .joint 7 is made integral with the cap 1, so that, after unscrewing subsequent to the latter, the seal 7 relste close linked to the capsule.
In order to reinforce the locking of the seal 7 in the cap 1, an additional one can be provided, holding, on the outer surface of the skirt 13, hooking lugs which have rolled with the seal.
In the variant embodiment, illustrated in FIG. 2, the seal 14 comprises a transverse bottom 15 which is located in the transverse plane of the collar 11 and which is extended, in its central part, by a cylindrical skirt. that 16 fits tightly into the neck opening 5.
The seal shown in Figure 2 can be engaged in the orifice of the neck of a container, after filling the latter, providing an excellent seal due to the extended contact area between the skirt 16 and the wall of the neck. 5, and de-establishing the circular sealing zones B and C as in the case of the stopper of FIG. 1.
Then, the capsule 1 is placed, without a seal in its bottom, by screwing it slit on the neck 5 of the container, which causes, as above, the catching of the seal 14 in the bottom of the capsule
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
due to the passage of the edge 13b of the skirt 13 behind the thread 4 of the capsule. As a result, it is no longer necessary to provide a seal, for example made of cork, in the bottom of the capsule 1, as in the case of previously known sealing devices.
Such a seal offers the advantage of making it possible to maintain the tightness of the container, even during a possible transport, since the hermetic seal 14 is integral with the cap 1 during unblocking and that it is therefore replaced automatically. - ment during filling.
In the variant embodiment of the seal shown in FIG. 3, the frustoconical outer skirt 13 of the seal 14 carries a transverse circular rib 17 which is housed in a cylindrical recess 18 made in the bottom of the capsule 1. The rib 17 is force-fitted into the housing 18 and therefore exerts a certain pressure on the lateral surface of this housing. It therefore contributes to the blocking of the seal 14 in the bottom of the capsule 1.
For the stoppering of a receptacle containing a liquid or pulverulent product, a seal 14 is first placed by inserting its central part (skirt 16 or stud) into the orifice of the socket, as well as is illustrated in the figure A threaded cap 1 is then engaged on the neck 5 and the aim is to fonû the cap until the frustoconical skirt 13 is engaged behind the last thread of the thread 4 of the cap.
This position corresponds to that illustrated in Figure 3. 11 results from this that, when unscrewing the capsule 1, the seal 14 is driven by the latter and is released from the orifice of the neck, despite the resistance due to the rubbing of its skirt 16 on the internal wall of the neck. We see '. In Figure 5 the car) - sule unscrewed in the bottom of which is firmly anchored the seal 14. This seal continues to play its role during the successive screwing of the capsule 1 and it then replaces the cork gasket which was provided until now in the bottom of plastic capsules.
According to an alternative embodiment, the seal 14 could include, instead of the continuous skirt 13, a succession of hooking tabs distributed around the periphery of the transverse flange 11 and capable of being able to be housed behind the last one. thread of the thread 4 and brace obnter
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
this thread to maintain the seal 14 in the bottom of the capsule 1.
It is understood that the embodiments of the invention which have been described above, with reference to the appended drawing, have been given purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and that numerous modifications can be made without the for this, we deviate from the scope of the present invention.
