<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

places on this layer a porous material, at least some of the pores of which form channels which run across the material and open onto the surface adjacent to the polymerizable product, and allow the polymerization of the product to proceed at this low pressure.
In the known methods of this kind it is very difficult to obtain accurate dimensions of the coated material. Jointing is therefore necessary when using this coated material in a building construction. In addition, in these known methods, the amount of filler that can be applied to the polymerizable product is relatively small.
The object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks and to provide a method for forming a coated material which is simple and economical and allows very accurate dimensions of the coated material to be obtained and which allows more filler to be used in the polymerizable product. turn into.
To this end, the layer of a low-pressure polymerizable material is applied to an already polymerized layer, a porous material is placed on this polymerizable layer and the polymerization of the polymerizable layer is allowed to proceed at low pressure.
Preferably, an already polymerized layer is used which has a greater hardness than the layer
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
polymerizable product after the polymerization.
In this embodiment, the quality of the coated material is improved by avoiding any shrinkage cracks that may form in the coating layer during polymerization. When using polymerizable products that are hard after polymerization, the shrinkage of this polymerizable layer during polymerization will very often cause hairline cracks. Also, only materials can be coated that are strong enough to withstand the shrinkage stresses. The formation of cracks can be avoided by using a polymerizable product which after polymerization has a relatively high flexibility. This significantly reduces strength and usually also resistance to atmospheric influences.
The flexibility of the polymerized polymerizable layer, for example to be able to apply the method to cellular concrete, would have to be so great that the quality of the coated material would fall outside the normal standards of hardness, strength and resistance to atmospheric influences.
The invention also relates to molded material coated according to any of the previous embodiments.
Other particularities and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description of a method for forming a coated material
