Abstract
Productivity of blast furnaces for making Fe is increased by injecting combustibles and reductants as well as coke in definite ratios, defined by: W=C+A.F+B.G, (where W is the heat required to produce a ton of steel; C is the weight of coke used; F is the quantity of added combustible, e.g. heavy oil, light oil, gas; and G is the amount of reducing gas injected at around the 1000 degrees C zone). The constant, A, varies from 0.15-1.2 depending on the auxiliary combustible used, and B varies from 0.2-0.35. The sum of the heat produced from the combustibles should be sufficient to maintain a flame temperature of 1800-2500 degrees C.
