Abstract
Method of steel refining in a bottom blown Thomas converter as in LU. 41718 in which the tuyeres comprise two concentric conduits, the inner of which carries the oxygen and the outer the fuel gas, the rate of supply of oxygen being about 3 Nm3/min per tuyere at 7 kg/cm2 pressure and the fuel supply rate being about 0.17 Nm3/min per tuyere at a pressure of 2-3 kg/cm2. The inner tube is of copper the outer of stainless steel.
