Abstract

Slag cement is made by water quenching droplets of slag directly from the blast furnace, after passing through a plate with holes in it to insure formation of small drops, and is used in mortars, concretes hydraulic binders etc. Alternatively the droplets are formed by rotating the nozzle at the end of the slag outlet channel to distribute the droplets by centrifugal force forming particles after quenching 1 mm. dia. The cement produces stronger concretes, since it requires less water than in prior art.
