Abstract
Esp. pig iron is continuously refined by continuously pouring metal into a bottom O2 blown vessel, the metal at least at its upper level flows from this vessel successively into one or more similar vessels. During its passage the metal is further subjected to the action of refining gas and to the addition of slagging and/or cooling agents; the refined metal being continuously evacuated from the last vessel.
