Abstract

Thinwalled plastic containers such as cups are produced by (a) introducing a sheet of plastic material having such a temp. that it can be shaped between a female die and a male die having a hollow-shape corresponding to the exterior shape of the container (b) bringing together the female die and the male die so as to form a seal between the shape of the mould surrounded by the male die, and the sheet, (c) applying vacuum so that the sheet material assumes the shape of the inner mould wall and forms the container, (d) bringing together the female die and the male die to cut the container from the sheet of material, (e) ejecting the container by a compressed air stream directed between the mould and the container so that the latter is discharged through the sheet of material and through the female die by a suitable opening in this die, (f) moving apart the male die and the female die and (g) discharging the sheet material from the mould.
