<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>

"ROLLER DEVICE FOR PAINT APPLICATION
The present invention relates to a device comprising a roller rotating about a longitudinal axis and surrounded by an absorbent material, this roller being used for the application.
paints or other liquid or otherwise pasty compositions on surfaces.
A type of roller is already known for this use. It consists of a cylindrical part (or roller proper) rotating around a horizontal axis (or support) which is extended at one of its ends, so as to be integral with a handle which is perpendicular to the roller itself. The latter is fitted to the support using a stop pin, with a setting washer, and

end of axis or other equivalent solution. The support is a curved metal rod, with a gooseneck-shaped extension.
Such a device has many drawbacks. The support must be metallic, to allow the swan neck shape, but this inevitable corrosion results, hence the danger of dark marks when the paint is applied. On the other hand, due to the lack of symmetry of the assembly, this results in an imbalance which requires additional effort on the part of the user. In addition, because of the use of round rods, the handle tends to turn, especially
because of the imbalance of the device. It should also be noted that the assembly and disassembly of the assembly, respectively before and after application of the paint, are not easy. In addition, tightening with a nut or the like is not an attractive solution,
because this nut tends to come apart during the application of paint or, in other cases, adheres too firmly to the support due to a sticky deposit of paint.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. It relates to a device for applying paints and similar products and comprising a roller and a support around which

Another object of the invention consists of a device that is easy to assemble and does not include any part which may corrode.
To this end, the device of the invention for applying paints and similar products essentially comprises:
a) a circular rod, in rigid material, comprising on either side of its central part and at a short distance from the latter, two beads or two circular grooves, this rod constituting the support, b) two cylinders, in material rigid plastic, fitted inside with a tubing having an internal diameter very slightly greater than the external diameter of the rod and the internal surface of each tubing comprising, near one end, a circular groove or bead intended to adapt respectively to one of the beads or grooves of the rod, c) a flat element, made of rigid material, perpendicular to the rod and fixed to the central part of the latter.
The characteristics and particularities of the device according to the invention, as well as its advantages, will emerge from the following description of an embodiment, given by way of illustration and not having any limiting nature. For this description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings which respectively show: FIG. 1: a front view of the support. Figure 2: a longitudinal section of a cylinder adaptable to the support. Figure 3 a section along A-B of the cylinder of figure 2.
The support shown in Figure 1 comprises a cylindrical rod 1 connected in its middle part to a plate 2 ending in a handle 3.
A short distance from this median part, the bar 1 is provided with two circular beads 4, symmetrically arranged
<EMI ID = 3.1> Figure 2 shows a cylinder 5, provided internally and over part of its length, with an internal, coaxial pipe 6 located
at one end of the cylinder. The inner surface of the tubing has
an annular groove 7, located at the outer end of this tubing.
This end has longitudinal slots 8. Ribs 9 provide the connection between the wall of cylinder 5 and the coaxial pipe.
6 and also contribute to the mechanical strength of cylinder 5.
A complete device for the application of paints comprises only the support shown in figure 1 and two rollers 5 shown in figures 2 and 3. For assembly, it suffices to slide a roller 5 on the left part of the support 1 up to 'that the bead
4 of this left part penetrates into the groove 7, this penetration being facilitated by the slots 8. The internal diameter of the tube 6 is slightly greater than the external diameter of the rod 1-. We proceed from
even with the second roller which is slid on the right part of the support until the bead penetrates into the groove.
We see that this set is quickly and firmly assembled
and that it is just as easily disassembled. It does not require any secondary fixing elements, such as washers, screws, etc. which were necessary with the previously known devices.
In addition, thanks to its general configuration, the device of the

which facilitates the application of paint, the user having to provide no additional effort to overcome this imbalance.
By using a flat element 2, the space separating the two beads 4 can be reduced to a minimum, which consequently makes it possible to very strongly limit the space between the two facing ends of the two rollers 5. attached to the support 1.
Known with conventional rollers, it suffices to surround the two rollers 5 with a filling material, adapted to allow
<EMI ID = 5.1>
surface to be covered, this material usually being
by a sheepskin. The ends of the rollers 5 are closed
and adapted to receive the packing material.
The simple configuration of the constituent elements of the device of the present invention allows them to be easily manufactured from a solid, unalterable material. A rigid device is thus obtained, which does not give rise to corrosion and to the drawbacks of prior devices. According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the rollers 5, as well as optionally the support, are produced from rigid plastic material, such as for example polystyrene, AB5 resin, polyolefin, etc. The set can be produced
by the injection technique, hence ease of manufacture, especially since the two rollers 5 have exactly the same configuration; it is therefore sufficient to manufacture two kinds of elements as shown in figure 1 and figure 2.
These different elements adapt easily to each other, without the use of secondary elements, the assembly and disassembly of the whole are easy and quick, hence saving in labor and maintenance of the device,
In addition, the outer ends of the cylinders i can be covered with sheepskin or similar material, so that the application of paint in the corners is facilitated.
Finally, the assembly is characterized by its lightness compared to the classic cantilever system. Thus, according to another embodiment, the support may have grooves instead of circular beads 4 and, in this case, each roller is provided with a
