 <EMI ID=3.1>

 <EMI ID=4.1>

 <EMI ID=5.1>

 <EMI ID=6.1>

 <EMI ID=7.1>

 <EMI ID=8.1>

 <EMI ID=9.1>

 <EMI ID=10.1>

 <EMI ID=11.1>

 <EMI ID=12.1>

 <EMI ID=13.1>

 <EMI ID=14.1>

 <EMI ID=16.1>

 <EMI ID=17.1>

 <EMI ID=18.1>

(figure 1).

 <EMI ID=19.1>

 <EMI ID=20.1>

(figure 2) .

 <EMI ID=21.1>

 <EMI ID=22.1>

 <EMI ID=23.1>

 <EMI ID=24.1>

The present invention relates to the field of metal working by deformation and in particular has

object a rolling stand for helical rolling.

It is more advantageous to apply the present invention to the production of bodies of revolution, preferably those of small diameter, for example 70 to 30 mm in diameter, from solid or hollow blanks.

At present, the urgent problem to be resolved is that of the creation of new deformation devices which can be used effectively in

low-power metallurgical plants. The most advanced of these devices must work by deformation with a high rate of deformation of the metal per reduction cycle. Among the deformation devices

which allow a high rate of deformation to be carried out per reduction cycle include pilgrim rolling mills, planetary rolling mills, for example the Sendzimir rolling mill, radial forging machines. The common disadvantage of these machines is the discontinuity (the discrete character)

deformation operations. Devices are known which allow the deformation process to be carried out continuously, for example rolling mills, in particular rolling mills for helical rolling, the cages of which, during the deformation, communicate a rotary movement and a movement to the blank. longitudinal. To put the blank in longitudinal movement, the cylinders are placed in

the rolling mill stand so that the axes of the preform (or rolling) and of the rolls form straight lines crossing each other; a component is then formed of the circumferential speed of the rollers projected onto the direction of the rolling axis and which essentially determines the speed of the translational movement of the metal.

The value of this component depends on the angle known as the "advance angle". that is to say of the corresponding guiding cosine between the vector of the circumferential speed of the cylinder and the direction of advance.

However, a number of drawbacks of this design prevent the carrying out of rolling to

a high speed of deformation and with a high yield on rolling mills for helical rolling. The known rolling mills do not allow the rolling of the blanks in a range of large feed angles ", for example in the range of 10 to 30 [deg.]. Because there is currently no construction rigid rolling mill roll cage for helical rolling, we have not yet succeeded in obtaining high rates of deformation of the blank and ensuring the production of laminates of an imposed diameter with a narrow range of tolerances.

A trio rolling mill cage is known for helical rolling for the production of bodies of revolution with variable profile (cf. the work "Troudy VNIIMETMACH, collection N [deg.] 3, edition M., 1971, page 22, figure 17) In this cylinder cage, three guide bars are arranged

so that their axes form angles of 45 [deg.] with the rolling axis and that their projections on the plane perpendicular to the rolling axis form between them

angles of 120 [deg.]. Next these bars slide sleeves kinematically coupled to each other and linked to two control cylinders which ensure the approximation of the cylinders and two control cylinders which ensure their spacing. Each sleeve carries a body which can be turned relative to said sleeve using adjusting screws to move the axis of the spindle relative to the rolling axis. In each body, the spindle is mounted

so that it can rotate around its longitudinal axis,

to move in the longitudinal direction and to roll with respect to an axis parallel to the axis of the spindle. On the side

of the rolling zone, each spindle forms a rigid assembly with the cylinder, the geometric axis of which coincides

with the geometric axis of the spindle. The deformation surface of the cylinder is conical. The geometric axis of the cylinder forms with the rolling axis of the straight lines

 <EMI ID = 3.1>

being identical for each cylinder. In a normal plane

at the rolling axis, the angles between the projections of each of the axes of the rolls are equal to 120 [deg.]. Each cylinder is rotated by means of a

couple of cylindrical pinions, one of which is fixed on the spindle while the other is wedged on the drive shaft housed inside the guide bar. The axis of the tree coincides with the axis of the bar. The three drive shafts are all linked to a central bevel gear using bevel gears. Two drive shafts are linked to the electric motors. The third shaft is rotated by the central bevel gear.

In this known design of the cage, it is impossible to position the pins rigidly because their bodies rotate relative to the sleeves. This drawback leads to a decrease in the precision of the values of the diameters of the rolled parts, that is to say to the obtaining of parts with a wide range of tolerances. The considered design of the cage ensures only a small variation in the shortest distance between the intersecting lines. This drawback does not make it possible to carry out

 <EMI ID = 4.1>

in other words, at high speeds and with a high rate of deformation of the blank.

A rolling mill for helical rolling is also known (cf. the patent of the United States of America

N [deg.] 3 132 545), whose cage has a monolithic body. Three pins are mounted in cylindrical bores of said body so that they can rotate about its longitudinal axis and move in the longitudinal direction. Each of the spindles forms on the side of the rolling zone a rigid assembly with a cylinder, the geometric axis of which coincides with the geometric axis of the spindle, and with the rolling axis of the intersecting lines. The deformation surface of the cylinder is conical. The angle between the intersecting lines is the same value for each cylinder. In a plane normal to the rolling axis, the

angles between the projections of each of the axes of

cylinders are equal to 120 [deg.]. Spindles with cylinders are rotated around their own longitudinal axis

using hypoid gears, each of which is wedged on the spindle and engaged with the central drive gear. In the cage produced according to the design described above, the shortest distance between the intersecting lines, that is to say between the geometric axis of the cylinder and the axis

of rolling has a constant value. Transmission by limiting hypoid torque and, more precisely, decreases the

 <EMI ID = 5.1>

the value of the shortest distance "e" between the lines

 <EMI ID = 6.1>

and "e" in the rolling stand for helical rolling is

 <EMI ID = 7.1>

therefore, this decrease causes a decrease in the rate of deformation of the blank.

During the rolling of the parts in the cage considered, the ratio of the radii of the cylinder and of the laminate according to the deformation zone remains constant. It is quite clear that by using a single set of cylinders one can only laminate parts of the same diameter. When it is necessary to modify the diameter of the part to be laminated, it is essential to replace the cylinders. This technical solution leads to an increase in the number of cylinder replacements during the use of the rolling mill, which reduces the efficiency of the rolling mill.

It was therefore proposed to develop a rolling stand for helical rolling, the design of which would position the rolls with a large

 <EMI ID = 8.1>

of the rolling mill and carry out the rolling with a high rate

deformation of the blanks.

The problem thus posed is solved by means of a cage for helical rolling in the body of which three pins are mounted so as to be able to rotate around their longitudinal axis and to move longitudinally, each of said pins forming, on the side of the rolling zone, a rigid assembly with a cylinder whose deformation surface is conical in shape and whose geometric axis coincides with the geometric axis of the spindle and forms with the rolling axis of intersecting lines

 <EMI ID = 9.1>

value for each cylinder, and the angles between the projections of each of the axes of the rolls in a plane normal to the rolling axis are equal to 120 [deg.], characterized, according to the invention, in that the most distant short between the intersecting straight lines is between approximately 0.6 times and approximately 1.0 times the maximum radius of the minimum cross section of the deformation surface of the cylinder, said maximum radius being chosen so as to ensure the absence of contact between the deformation surfaces of the cylinders.

Analysis of the geometric parameters of the area

deformation in the rolling stand for helical rolling (cf. the work "Theory of transverse helical rolling", published in 1977, page 368) revealed that, when the shortest distance "e" between the straight lines

/ intersecting the axes of the rolls and the rolling axis is equal to the maximum radius R of the minimum cross section of the deformation surface of the roll, the smallest possible gauge is formed between the rolls, which corresponds to the diameter smallest possible laminate; by means of this minimum gauge we obtain the angle

 <EMI ID = 10.1>

For a given conical shape of the cylinder and for the aforementioned values of the distance "e" and the radius R along the

 <EMI ID = 11.1>

Common cross sections of the cylinder reach their maximum values. As already mentioned,

 <EMI ID = 12.1>

component of the circumferential speed of the cylinder in the direction of the rolling axis. It follows that by choosing, in accordance with the invention, a distance the

shortest possible between intersecting lines, approximately equal to the maximum radius of the minimum cross section of the deformation surface of the cylinder, chosen

so as to ensure the absence of contact between the deformation surfaces of the cylinders, it is ensured, along the zone

deformation and for a given conical shape of the cylinders,

 <EMI ID = 13.1>

circumferential speed of the rolls in the direction of the rolling axis reach their maximum values, and therefore, rolling takes place at maximum speed and with the highest yield.

When e> 1.0 R, the minimum imposed diameter of the laminate cannot be obtained, since the deformation surfaces of the rolls touch each other and, moreover,

 <EMI ID = 14.1>

When e <0.6 R, the minimum cylinder size
(or the minimum diameter of the laminate) increases, and the angles <EMI ID = 15.1> as well as the yield of the rolling mill. When the shortest distance "e" between the intersecting lines is from about 0.6 to about 1.0 R, a small modification of said caliber of the cylinders is obtained, that is to say of the diameter laminate, and we ensure, along the deformation zone,

 <EMI ID = 16.1>

common cylinder cross-sections, for example

from 10 to 30 [deg.]. In this case, the increase in the feed angles leads to an increase in the value of the components of the vectors of the friction forces projected on the rolling direction and favorable conditions are created in the deformation zone which make it possible to carry out the rolling. blanks with a higher rate of deformation (or with a greater reduction). The production of parts in

the high-rate helical rolling mill stand

of deformation of the starting blanks (stretching X reaches 5 to 15), makes it possible to significantly reduce the number of deformation cycles and thereby widen the technological possibilities of the rolling stand for helical rolling: in particular , we can produce the same part

from blanks of different diameters.

It is recommended that each cylinder, spindle side, be made with a longitudinal longitudinal T-groove

and that in each spindle is mounted coaxially a bar, one T-end of which cooperates with the T-groove of the cylinder and the other threaded end of which cooperates with a nut at the periphery of which are threaded orifices, in at least two of which are screwed screws each cooperating by their end faces with the spindle, and that the rigid assembly of the cylinder with the spindle,

on the rolling zone side, or produced in the form of a key assembly.

This embodiment of the assembly of each of the rolls with its spindle ensures rapid replacement of the rolls, which increases the useful working time of the rolling mill and contributes to the increase in its output.

The fact that the bar is mounted coaxially without the spindle simplifies the manufacturing technology of the latter and contributes to the elimination of warping of the surfaces of the cylinder and of the spindle which lowers the quality of the surface of the laminate.

In addition, the fact that the bar is made with a threaded end cooperating with a nut makes it possible to apply the face of the cylinder against the face of the spindle with an effort capable of suppressing the warping of said faces resulting from the presence of a play technological in the assembly of the cylinder and the spindle under the action of rolling forces.

By mounting in the threaded holes of the nut of the screws whose end faces cooperate with the spindle,

the security of blocking said threaded assembly is improved and the quality of the laminate surface is increased.

The helical rolling mill stand executed according to the present invention and in which the distance between the intersecting lines is the shortest

 <EMI ID = 17.1>

equal to 50 [deg.], produces parts 30 to 70 mm in diameter from blanks of 100 mm in diameter at a longitudinal displacement speed of up to 0.8 m / s, and at a speed of rotation of the cylinders around their axis up to 200 rpm.

The invention will be better understood and other objects, details and advantages thereof will appear better in the light of the explanatory description which follows of a nonlimiting embodiment given by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings. wherein :
- Figure 1 schematically shows a rolling mill stand for helical rolling according to the invention, seen from the exit side of the laminate, according to arrow A in Figure 2; -7
- Figure 2 is a sectional view along II-II of Figure 1.

The rolling mill stand for helical rolling carried out according to the invention comprises a monolith body 1 (FIG. 1) with three cylindrical bores in each of which is mounted a body 2 capable of longitudinal displacement. A spindle 3 (FIG. 2), arranged concentrically in each of the bodies 2, forms, on the side of the rolling zone, a rigid assembly with a cylinder 4 whose geometric axis coincides with the geometric axis of the spindle 3 and forms with the rolling axis "aa" intersecting lines.

 <EMI ID = 18.1>

is of substantially the same value for each of the cylinders.

In the plane normal to the rolling axis, the angles between the projections of each of the cylinder axes are substantially equal to 120 [deg.] (Figure 1). The shortest distance "e" between the intersecting lines is approximately 0.6 times to approximately 1 time the maximum radius R of the cylinder 4 corresponding to the minimum cross section of the deformation surface of said cylinder, said radius being chosen to be so that the surfaces of the cylinders do not touch each other. The shape of the deformation surface of each of the cylinders is conical. Each spindle 3 (FIG. 1) is mounted in the body 2 with the possibility of turning around its own longitudinal axis on rolling bearings 5 and 6 between which there is an interlacing sleeve 7.

   The bearing 5 is blocked on the body 2 by the nut 8 and the bearing 6 is immobilized on the spindle by a nut 9, which ensures the assembly of said spindle to said body. Seals 10 tightened by a cap 11 protect the bearings 5 and 6 against the cooling water of the cylinders and the scale or hot metal flakes of the blanks. A key 12 prevents the body 2 from rotating relative to the body 1. A longitudinal T-shaped groove 13 is formed on the face of each cylinder which is oriented towards the corresponding pin.

In each spindle 3, is mounted coaxially a bar 14 with a T-end cooperating with the T-groove 13 of the cylinder. The other end 15 of the bar 14 is threaded and cooperates with a nut 16. At the periphery of said nut are tapped holes. Screws 17 are screwed at least into two of said orifices. The respective faces of each of the screws 17 and the nut 16 cooperate with the spindle 3. The rigid assembly of the cylinder 4 to the spindle 3, on the rolling side, is ensured by keys 18 and 19. By applying low torques with screws 17, a

 <EMI ID = 19.1>

the assembly of cylinder 4 with pin 3. To ensure

easy replacement of the cylinders, we mounted them

on the pins by mobile assembly.

The face of the cylinder 4 is clamped against the face of the spindle 3 by the bar 14 and the nut 16 with a force excluding the warping of said faces under the action of the rolling forces, resulting from the technological play in the assembly cylinder- brooch. The rigid assembly of the bar 14 with the pin 3 is done using a key 20.

Each of the controls 21 (FIG. 1) putting the

spindle 3 (figure 2) in longitudinal movement comprises an electric motor 22 (figure 1) and a worm gearbox

end 23. The electric motors 22 are electrically connected to each other. The motor shaft 22 is linked to a screw without

end 24 (Figure 1) engaged with a tangent wheel 25. A key 26 connects the wheel 25 to a hollow screw 27 which is mounted coaxially with the spindle and which envelops it. A screw 27 is mounted between the rolling bearings 28 and 29. To resist the axial forces generated during the deformation of the blank, a flange 30 is provided fixed by screws (not shown) on the body 1. In the bore of the flange, is fixedly mounted a nut 31 internally threaded

and engaging with the thread of the hollow screw 27.

d Several springs 32 mounted in the nut 31 serve to make up for the play in the threaded assembly of the screw 27 and

of the nut 31. The springs 32 are applied against the nut 31 by a nut 33 in engagement with the screw 27. For

the locking of the nut 33 are provided with screws (not shown). To catch the play in the rolling bearing 28,

 <EMI ID = 20.1>

the screw 27 on the side facing the rolling bearing 29. The elastic element 34 is executed in the form of a spring

with tray. A drive bush 34 is mounted between

the rolling bearing 29 and the elastic element 34. The bearing 29 is fixed to the spindle by a nut 38 by means of a washer 37. The rolling bearing 28 is mounted in the hub of a cylindrical toothed wheel 38 and abuts against the end face of the screw 26. The toothed wheel 38 wedged on the spindle 3 by a key 39 and engaged with a pinion 40 is used to put the spindle 3 in rotation about its own longitudinal axis. The pinion 40 is made integral with the shaft 41 by a key 42. The shaft 41 is mounted on the rolling bearings 43 and 44. A bevel gear 45 is rigidly mounted on the shaft 41 and is engaged with the bevel gear 46. The shaft 41 carrying the gear 40 and the bevel gear 45 is housed in the cylindrical bore 41 of the body 1.

   The bearing 43 is housed in the body 1, and the bearing 44, in the socket 48 fixed to the body 1 by screws (not shown). The bevel gear 46 is mounted on a hollow sleeve 49 by means of rolling bearings 50 between which is placed an interlacing sleeve 51. The bevel gear 46 is executed in one piece with the cylindrical toothed wheel 52 in engagement with a drive pinion 53 whose shaft 54 is intended to be coupled to the shaft of an electric motor
(not shown) -. The rolling bearings 50 are fixed to the hollow socket 49 using a nut 55 and a shoulder 56 provided on the hollow socket 49. For mounting

/ easy of the bevel gear 46 with the wheel 52, there is provided a cap 57 fixed to the body 1 by screws (not shown). The sleeve 49 is rigidly fixed in the cap 57. In said sleeve 49 is mounted a hollow sleeve 58 inside of which. a hollow body 59 is arranged coaxially. This body 59 is housed in the hollow socket 58

so that the outer wall of the body 59 and the inner wall of the sleeve 59 form an enclosure 60 receiving the cooling water. The blank 62 arrives through an opening 61 in the body 59. The drive pinion 53 located on the body 1 is protected by a cap 63

(figure 2).

The rolling mill stand for helical rolling according to the invention operates as follows. Before rolling, the cylinders are adjusted 4
(Figure 1) to the required diameter of the part to be obtained. This adjustment of the cylinders 4 is effected by longitudinal displacement of the pins 3 in the direction of the arrow "b" using the controls 21 (FIG. 2). From the tree of each

electric motor 22, the rotation is transmitted to the screw

endless 24 (Figure 1) engaged with the tangent wheel 25.

The rotation is then transmitted from the wheel 25 to the hollow screw 27 which, by cooperating with the nut 31, moves and puts the spindle 3 and the associated cylinder 4 in longitudinal movement via the rolling bearing 28. The cylinders 4 are rotated about their longitudinal axis by an electric motor coupled to the shaft 54 whose rotation is transmitted to the pinion 53 in engagement with

the toothed wheel 52. The bevel gear 46 in engagement with the

bevel wheel 45 rotates jointly with the toothed wheel 52. The rotation of the wheel 45 is transmitted to the cylindrical pinion 40 in engagement with the toothed wheel 38. The rotation of the wheel 38 is transmitted to the spindle 3 integral with the cylinder 4. Given that the geometric axis of each cylinder 4 forms with the rolling axis "aa" intersecting lines, that the

wire the shortest distance "e" between them is included

 <EMI ID = 21.1>

is chosen within the limits of 30 to 60 [deg.], it appears, during the rotation of the cylinder 4, of the components of the vector of the circumferential speed of the cylinder, the vector of one of these components coinciding with the direction of the rolling and putting the blank 62 in longitudinal movement, while the vector of the other component is substantially perpendicular to the direction of rolling and gives the blank 62 a rotational movement. The longest distance

 <EMI ID = 22.1>

for example from 10 to 30 [deg.] in the common cross-sections of the cylinder depending on the length of the area of

 <EMI ID = 23.1>

allow rolling to be carried out at high speed,

which ensures a high yield of the rolling mill and increases

the values of the components of the friction force vectors along the length of the deformation zone,

which allows rolling to be carried out with a higher deformation rate.

To obtain larger diameter parts,

the cylinders 4 are adjusted by moving the pins 3 longitudinally along the arrow "c" using the controls 21 (FIG. 2) in the manner described above.

However, the rotation of the motor shaft 22 is reversed and, as a result of the cooperation of the nut 31 with the screw 27, the latter acts via a bush 35 on the bearing 29, which transmits the axial force via the washer 37 to the nut 36 forming a threaded connection with the spindle 3, so that the latter

moves longitudinally along arrow "c".

By positioning each of the pins 3 and its associated cylinder in the body 1 of the cage so that their axes form with the rolling axis of the straight lines
-1 intersecting at an angle Il 6 "included in the range

from 30 to 60% and that the shortest distance "e" between said straight lines is between approximately 0.6 times and 1.0 times the maximum radius R of the minimum cross section of the deformation surface of the cylinder, said distance being chosen so that the deformation surfaces of the cylinders do not touch, a

 <EMI ID = 24.1>

range from 10 to 30 [deg.], which makes it possible to obtain a greater speed of movement of the blank 62 in the direction of the rolling axis "a-a" and, consequently, greater efficiency. These peculiarities of the cage design

rolling mills expand technological possibilities

of it and in particular allow rolling to be carried out with a high rate of deformation of the metal, ensuring high rigidity of the cage thanks to the monolithic design of its body 1, and thanks to the fact that the pins 3 with their bearings of bearing 5 and 6 and their mechanisms

longitudinal displacement are mounted in bores of said monolith body 1, as well as the possibility of using rolling bearings 5 and 6 whose dimensions are

larger thanks to the fact that they are mounted in the frame

of the cage at a crossing angle of 30 to 60 [deg.].

The rigidity of the cylinder cage is improved thanks to the claimed assembly of the cylinder with the spindle

and taking up play in the nut 31-hollow screw 27 torque and in the rolling bearing 28. Thanks to the greater rigidity of the cage and the rolling of the blanks with a

higher rate of deformation of the metal, we obtain finished parts with tolerances within a narrow range.
