Abstract
A transmitter and receiver unit is positioned at each of the four extremities of a motor vehicle. The transmitter transmits a wave at a predetermined angle and the wave is reflected by an obstacle for return to the receiver. The receivers provide signals for a central unit inside the vehicle. This provides a reading of distance from the obstacle. Audible and visual signals are activated within a predetermined and adjustable range from the obstacle. These operate with increasing urgency as the distance decreases to allow the vehicle driver to stop the particular manoeuvre.

Système de détection d'obstacle pour véhicule automobile.
La présente invention concerne les véhicules automobiles et a pour but d'aider le conducteur à mieux percevoir l'encombrement de son véhicule et, de ce fait, de faciliter ses manoeuvres.
L'invention trouve son application dans les voitures, les automobiles tractant une caravane ou une remorque;, les camionettes et les camions, les poids lourds et les longs véhicules, et est particulièrement avantageuse pour des manoeuvres sur une aire de chargement.
Le système de détection suivant l'invention est caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste en un appareillage électronique comportant, d'une part, un émetteur d'onde et, d'autre part, un récepteur de l'onde projetée et renvoyée par un obstacle, ledit appareillage étant pourvu d'un système de lecture de la distance parcourue par l'onde renvoyée et
de moyens de signalisation visuels et/ou auditifs entrant en action pour une distance prédéterminée.
Suivant l'invention, l'appareillage est constitué d'un certain nombre d'éléments, par exemple quatre, à placer aux extrémités du véhicule, chaque élément comportant un émetteur et un récepteur, et d'une centrale disposée à l'intérieur du véhicule et renfermant le système de lecture et les moyens de signalisation.
L'invention est décrite maintenant sur la base du dessin annexé, à titre d'exemples uniquement, montrant des cas d'application. On voit en : Figure 1 l'application de l'invention lors d'un dépassement sur route Figure 2 l'application de l'invention lors d'un chargement sur une aire de chargement ; Figure 3 l'application de l'invention lors du parcage d'un véhicule entre deux autres véhicules.
Le système détecteur suivant l'invention est constitué d'un appareillage projetant par son émetteur une onde à une certaine distance, suivant un angle déterminé.
L'onde se projetant sur un obstacle est renvoyée par celui-ci vers le récepteur de l'appareillage. A ce moment ledit récepteur prévient la centrale, installée à l'intérieur du véhicule, que ledit véhicule est à une certaine distance de l'obstacle.
La centrale étant constituée de moyens de signalisation visuels et auditifs, une fois une distance prédéterminée X atteinte - distance entre véhicule et obstacle la centrale émet un son et un voyant s'allume.
Ces opérations s'effectuent bien entendu en un temps extrêmement court, afin que le conducteur ait le temps de réagir, d'arrêter sa manoeuvre lors d'un parcage, d'un chargement ou d'un dépassement.
L'appareillage du système détecteur comporte quatre éléments 1, dotés chacun d'un émetteur et d'un récepteur, produisant et respectivement recevant les ondes. Ces éléments sont placés aux quatre extrémités du véhicule
2 (figure 1). On voit que, au moment où le véhicule 2 veut dépasser le véhicule 2', un autre véhicule 2" est déjà en train de doubler et reste invisible à cause de l'angle mort. Le système détecteur, par son élément 1d, prévient
le conducteur du danger, afin qu'il suspende sa manoeuvre
de dépassement.

éléments, va permettre au conducteur d'atteindre cette aire de chargement sans buter contre les parois de l'espace restreint et contre l'aire elle-même.

Le système détecteur suivant l'invention présente encore l'avantage de contrôler l'espace entre le véhicule et le véhicule précédant, afin de permettre au conducteur de maintenir la distance utile de freinage.
Il présente encore l'avantage de prévenir, par un avertisseur sonore, un conducteur somnolent de l'écart dangereux qu'il ferait sur une route, vers un mur, un véhicule ou tout autre obstacle.
REVENDICATIONS
1. Système de détection d'obstacle pour véhicule automobile, caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste en un appareillage électronique comportant, d'une part, un émetteur d'onde et, d'autre part, un récepteur de l'onde projetée et renvoyée par un obstacle, ledit appareillage étant pourvu d'un système de lecture de la distance parcourue par l'onde renvoyée et de moyens de signalisation visuels et/ou auditifs entrant en action pour une distance prédéterminée.

According to the invention, the apparatus consists of a certain number of elements, for example four, to be placed at the ends of the vehicle, each element comprising a transmitter and a receiver, and a central unit disposed inside the vehicle and containing the reading system and the signaling means.
The invention is now described on the basis of the appended drawing, by way of examples only, showing application cases. The detector system according to the invention consists of an apparatus projecting by its transmitter a wave at a certain distance, at a determined angle.
The wave projecting on an obstacle is returned by this one towards the receiver of the apparatus. At this moment said receiver warns the central station, installed inside the vehicle, that said vehicle is at a certain distance from the obstacle.
The control unit being made up of visual and auditory signaling means, once a predetermined distance X is reached - distance between vehicle and obstacle, the control unit emits a sound and an indicator light comes on.
These operations are of course carried out in an extremely short time, so that the driver has time to react, to stop his maneuver during parking, loading or overtaking.
The apparatus of the detector system comprises four elements 1, each provided with a transmitter and a receiver, producing and respectively receiving the waves. These elements are placed at the four ends of the vehicle
