Description

Profile for the production of roof ladders, roof ladder obtained and device for retaining and fixing such a ladder.

The present invention relates to a metal profile particularly suitable for the production of roof ladders. It also relates to the roof ladder produced from such a profile, as well as a device for retaining and fixing the ladder to the roof.

To date, roof ladders are generally wooden ladders, made by the roofers themselves. These scales are relatively heavy and unwieldy. In addition, they do not offer any great guarantees against sliding both of the ladder uprights on the roof and of the user's foot on the rungs. This is particularly important considering that very often roofs, especially slate roofs, are mossy and therefore slippery, mainly in wet weather. Another safety element of great importance is the retaining and fixing of the ladder on the roof, which has so far also been carried out using makeshift means.

Furthermore, conventional metal ladders are absolutely not suitable for use as a roof ladder, both because of the way in which the uprights are laddered and because of the shape of the rungs themselves.

The present invention therefore aims to develop a hollow metal profile particularly suitable for the production of roof ladders. It also relates to the roof ladder thus obtained, as well as the device for retaining and fixing this ladder to the roof.

These goals are achieved by providing for the production of roof ladders, a hollow metal profile which is in the form of a closed profile having a parallel base wall and top wall, connecting to each other by side walls, in which at least one of the said side walls is formed in the form of a dihedron whose apex is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the profile and whose apex angle is approximately 135 [deg.], the face of this dihedral adjacent to the base wall being perpendicular to the latter, the other face therefore connecting obliquely to the top wall.

According to another characteristic of the profile of the invention, each of the base and top walls, as well as each of the faces of the side walls has, near its edges, and parallel to these, ribs perpendicular to the face considered , and the top wall also has intermediate ribs

According to an additional characteristic of the profile of the invention, the ribs of the base wall are L-shaped, open towards each other to form slides.

According to yet another characteristic of the profile of the invention, its side walls are symmetrical.

According to another characteristic of the invention, in a roof ladder produced from a profile of the invention, the rungs and the uprights are made in the same profile, and in line with the junction of a rung with a amount, where the ribs of the walls opposite the respective profiles are perpendicular to each other, the ribs of one of these walls are notched transversely to form notches for receiving the ribs of the other wall.

According to another characteristic of the scale of the invention, the profile in which the rung is formed is assembled by its wall constituting the base to the wall constituting the top of the profile in which the upright is formed, the slide at the base of the the rung is cut across the width of the upright to leave ribs of height corresponding to the height of the ribs on the wall constituting the apex of the upright, and the transverse notches are formed in the wall constituting the apex of the upright, to cooperate with the ribs at the base of the rung.

According to yet another characteristic of the scale of the invention, the slide at the base of the upright receives a strip of non-slip material, and the ends of the uprights also receive plugs of non-slip material.

According to yet another characteristic of the scale of the invention, holes are made in the end zones of each upright, reinforced by a socket, to receive elements for connecting to assembly spacers.

According to an additional characteristic of the roof ladder of the invention, the assembly spacer consists of a U-shaped profile, of internal dimensions corresponding to the external dimensions of the upright, and provided with orifices intended to come into alignment. with the holes in the upright to receive a securing pin.

According to yet another additional characteristic of the invention, the ends of the wings of the U-shaped section have a flange directed towards the inside of the U-shaped section, intended to cooperate with the base wall of the upright, outside the slides.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, a device for retaining and fixing a roof ladder according to the invention comprises on either side of a base plate, spaced apart by a distance corresponding to the width of the ladder, two parallel U-shaped sections intended to receive the uprights of the ladder, the wings of these U-shaped profiles being of height greater than the height of the upright, the wing of each of these profiles directed towards the plate base having a notch to receive a rung, while on the part of the wings of U-shaped profiles disposed outside the receiving region of the rung is formed at least one slide arranged perpendicular to the plane of the base plate and intended receiving a support arm, orifices, for receiving wedging pins, being formed in the support arm,

as well as in the wings of the U-shaped profile, above the level of the upright profile, on either side of the notch for receiving the rung, one of these orifices being located in the receiving slide of the arm d 'support.

These characteristics and others will be better understood by referring to the description at the same time as to the appended drawing, which represents, by way of example only, various embodiments of the invention and in which:
FIG. 1 is a sectional view of an embodiment of a profile according to the invention,
FIG. 2 is a view also in section of a preferred embodiment of a profile according to the invention,
- Fig 3 is an exploded view of an assembly of two ladder elements formed in a profile of the invention
- Fig 4 is a cross-sectional view of the assembly of a profile and a spacer
FIG. 5 is a schematic view of the end-to-end assembly of two ladder elements using spacers of the invention,

FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a retaining and fixing device for a roof ladder according to the invention, and
- Fig 7 is a schematic sectional view of various modes of use of the roof ladder according to the invention and its retaining device.

Referring more particularly to the profile as shown in fig 1, it is in the form of a closed hollow profile having a base wall 1 and a top wall 2 parallel to each other, as well as side walls 3, 3 ' . The side wall 3 is in the form of a dihedral whose apex is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the profile, one side 4 of which is connected perpendicular to the base wall 1 and the other side of which 5 is connected obliquely to the top wall 2, the angle at the top of the dihedral being approximately
135 [deg.]. The second side wall 3 'is simply in the form of a planar wall connecting perpendicular to the base and top walls. Near each edge is formed on the top 2 and side 3 walls a rib 6 and on the base wall a rib 6 '.

In addition, the top wall 2 has complementary ribs 6 ".

When using this profile for the production of a roof ladder, the rung component is oriented so that the side wall 3 is positioned towards the top of the ladder. In this way, the face 4 of the wall 3 serves as a bearing surface for the sole of the user when climbing, the face 5 serves as a bearing surface for the user in the standing position, that is to say say in a vertical position, the ladder of course being inclined along the slope of the roof, and the upper wall 2 serves as a bearing surface for the user in the kneeling position, as well as for the sole of the user in descent. The ribs 6 on the side wall 3, and 6, 6 "on the top wall 2 constitute non-slip means, while the ribs 6 'on the base wall are intended, as will appear later.

from the description, to cooperate as ribs of a profile element with the ribs 6, 6 "on the top wall of another profile element to stiffen the connection between amount and rung of a ladder formed from of this profile.

The profile illustrated in fig 2 includes, like that of fig 1, a base wall 21, a top wall 22 and side walls 23, 23 '. In this embodiment, however, which is a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side wall 23 ′ is also in the form of a dihedral and is symmetrical with the wall

23. In addition, the ribs 26 ′ of the base wall are in the shape of an "L" and oriented towards one another to form slides.

In Fig 3 is shown in exploded view the end of a ladder made from a profile as illustrated in Fig 2. This end of ladder comprises a post element 31 and a step element

32. In rung element 32, the "L" ribs 26 'of the base wall have been cut to a length corresponding to the width of the upright so that only straight ribs 26 "' remain, while in the upright 31, the ribs 26, 26 "of the top wall
22 have been cut transversely, the notches 27 made being intended to receive the ribs 26 "'of the rung. Holes 28, 28' are provided in the upright and in the rung to receive fastening elements such as bolts An extremely rigid structure is thus obtained at the junction of the rung

and the amount. On the other hand, the slides 26 'on the base wall of the upright receive a strip 33 of a non-slip material, which protrudes beyond the slides to provide secure support on the roof. In addition, each end of the upright receives a plug.
34, also made of a non-slip material.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the ladder is made of elements of reduced length, which allow easy handling on the roof. In this case, spacers are provided for the end-to-end assembly of several elements, with a view to constituting a scale of suitable length. Such a spacer, cooperating with an upright 31 of the ladder, is illustrated in section in FIG. 4. It consists of a "U" shaped section 40 whose wings 41, 41 'end in a flange 42, 42 'intended to cooperate with the base wall of the upright, outside the slides 26'. In the end part of the upright
31, a hole 35 is formed, reinforced by a sleeve

36. Similarly, holes 43 are formed in the spacer 40. The spacer 40 is secured to the upright 31 by a pin 44 secured to a bent arm 45 preventing the pivoting of the spindle. The spindle 44 includes a pivoting cleat 46, intended to prevent inadvertent release of the spindle.

Fig 5 illustrates, in schematic top view, the end-to-end connection of two ladder elements using spacers as described above.

Referring to FIG. 6, which schematically represents a retaining and fixing device for a roof ladder according to the invention, the device comprises a base plate 60, on either side of which two profiles are located. "U" 61,
61 ', arranged parallel to each other and spaced from each other by a distance corresponding to the spacing of the uprights 31 of the scale. The height of the wings 62, 62 ',
62 "and 62" 'of each of these sections is greater than the thickness of the section in which the ladder is made. In each of the wings 62 ′, 62 ″ of these profiles oriented towards the base plate (or internal wings) is formed a notch 63, 63 ′ for receiving a rung. The uprights 31 and rung 32 of the scale are shown schematically in center lines in the drawing.

The wings 62, 62 ', 62 "and 62"' comprise, above the level of the top wall of the profile constituting the upright 31 of the ladder, on either side of the notch 63, 63 ' for the reception of the rung, pairs of holes 64 for the passage of fixing pins. In addition, at the location of one of these pairs of orifices, they comprise slides 65, oriented perpendicular to the base of said profiles 61, 61 ′, for receiving a support arm 66 which can also constitute retaining arm. This support arm 66 has orifices 67 intended to cooperate with the orifices 64 formed in the wings in line with the slides 65, to ensure the retention and the height adjustment of the arm. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support arm 66 ends in a support element 67.

Although in the drawing only a single support arm has been shown, it goes without saying that preference will be given to using one support arm per upright.

Fig 7 illustrates various modes of use of the ladder provided with support arms on a roof. Thus the support arm 71, in the manner in which it is placed, safely allows the retention of the roof ladder in a half-moon channel 72, which until now was not not easily achievable using conventional means. The support arm 73 is used as a retaining arm for hooking the ladder of the invention to the roof ridge.

It should also be noted that according to the embodiment illustrated in fig 6, the base plate
60 has holes 68 which can be used for fixing the device, and therefore the ladder, by nailing or by any other means, to the roof structure.

The invention has been described and illustrated simply by way of non-limiting example, and it goes without saying that many modifications can be made to its realization without departing from its spirit.
