Abstract
A cabinet is built into a wall such that the lower part is buried and the upper part is visible. Openings in the side walls allow passage through for a water pipe. The openings are sealed against water and solids. On the section of pipe within the cabinet are a stop valve and filter as well as a pressure reducer and body of a water meter. - The stop valve is coupled by a shaft to a handwheel in the upper part of the cabinet while the water meter is coupled by another shaft to a counter assembly. The front cover of the upper part of the cabinet has windows to permit reading of the counter and also a float position indicator. This signals presence of water in the cabinet base.
Description
<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>
<EMI ID=10.1>
<EMI ID=11.1>
<EMI ID=12.1>
<EMI ID=13.1>
On agit
<EMI ID=14.1>
REVENDICATIONS

"Equipment terminal authorizing remote reading of water consumption on meters".
Priority right of the request for addition certificate in France n [deg.] 85-11820 of July 26, 1985.
It is also pointed out that part of the invention is the subject of French patent n [deg.] 82-15466 of September 8, 1982.
The invention relates to an equipment terminal authorizing remote reading of water consumption on meters.
The invention relates to the technical sectors of water consumption control and necessary equipment in connection with building construction, fitted out with water supply and distribution pipes.
The aim sought after according to the invention is the development of a simple and inexpensive device which makes it possible to control with the least possible embarrassment, the private consumption of water of individuals living in housing estates, villas and other premises for uses various.
According to the prior art relating to the abovementioned applications, the water meters are generally installed in protected places, in order to avoid any unfortunate deterioration as a result of climatic phenomena, bad weather, frost, condensations and others. For this purpose, the meters are installed in dwellings or other premises, thus being protected. It is then necessary each time we want to read the water meter to check consumption, to issue a notice of passage from the attendant to the water service, which must then enter the house or local. There must therefore be a presence of the occupant justified only by this lifting operation, which is therefore not very rational.
In addition, according to current installations, it is necessary to provide key openings to ensure the closure and isolate the water supply from the room. The pipes being buried in the ground, the key openings are provided directly above the valves for controlling the opening or closing of the conduits. The operation of these key openings is random and when the road network is repaired.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
therefore indirect operations to carry out redevelopments further increasing the costs and the duration of intervention of the water services and the Equipment. In addition, many detritus can fall into the mouth and be troublesome to ensure the operation of the valve.
It is therefore to overcome these drawbacks that we sought new reliable, simple and inexpensive equipment.
According to a first characteristic of the invention, the equipment terminal is remarkable in that it is in the form of a sealed box, capable of being partially buried, defining a buried part and an apparent part above ground, said buried part comprising a lower chamber located in the bottom of the box, in which ^ are arranged means relating to the distribution and regulation of water and above which are arranged insulating blocks; the above-ground part having a volume arranged to authorize the introduction and removal of said blocks and an upper chamber arranged to receive means for remote control of the distribution and regulation of water and means authorizing remote reading of the metering water consumption.
From this basic design, we wanted to extend and improve the characteristics so as to have access to the water meter by an appropriate member for disassembly and reassembly for various interventions. Given the importance of the height of the part buried in the ground, and consequently the depth at which the meter is located, it was necessary to design a special base for said meter capable of cooperating with a complementary part of a body of actuation maneuverable from outside the terminal.
For this purpose, the meter is equipped with a support base arranged to be coupled in a removable manner with a base positioned in the bottom of the sealed and cooperating box, in a separate manner with the arrival and departure of the water, said base being shaped on the one hand to be in communication, in a sealed manner, with the separate internal arrangements of arrival and departure of water relating to the base and, on the other hand, to be connected to the inlet and outlet of the water meter, the support base further having hooking means capable of cooperating with complementary arrangements of an actuating member operable from the visible part of the cabinet to ensure the remote disassembly or assembly of the meter assembly and its removal.
These characteristics and others will emerge from the following description.
To fix the subject of the invention, reference is made to the figures of the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an equipment terminal according to the invention, FIG. 2 is a front view illustrating the adaptation of the terminal in an opening made in a fence wall, FIG. 3 is a front view in section, illustrating the particular arrangement of the terminal, FIG. 4 is a view of an alternative embodiment of the reading of the meter, FIG. 5 is a side view in section, along line 4.4. of Figure 4, Figure 6 is another alternative embodiment of the meter reading, Figure 7 is a front view and in section of the terminal according to another embodiment, Figure 8 is a bottom view of counter arrangements, <EMI ID = 2.1>
pui, Figure 10 is a perspective view of the meter assembly and its equipment mounted in the bottom of the cais Figure 11 is a perspective view of the actuator capable of cooperating with the meter for its disassembly, Figure 12 is a partial view in section showing the adaptation of the actuator on the corresponding part of the meter . Illustrated in phantom is the removal of the entire water meter after it has been unlocked from the base.
In order to make the object of the invention more concrete, it is now described in a nonlimiting manner illustrated in the figures of the drawing.
The terminal according to the invention is referenced in its
<EMI ID = 3.1>
dependent on the depth to which the water pipes have been laid and substantially greater than this, so that the counter (1) as well as the control valve (2) are positioned inside said terminal. The latter is in the form of a box (3) made of any suitable material that meets the requirements and constraints of the ambient environment. It can be in one piece or made up of several modular sub-assemblies which fit together with means ensuring the tightness of the assembly. In its lower part, substantially above its bottom (3-1), the box has lateral openings (3 2 2) allowing the passage of the water supply pipe (4) and that of departure (5).
<EMI ID = 4.1>
to ensure watertightness and other solids or fluids, at the bottom of the bollard.
The lower part of the terminal can receive, in addition to the aforementioned sealing means (6), successively and on the supply pipe (4), a stop valve or valve
(2), a filter (7), a pressure reducer (8), the body of the water meter (1) and a non-return valve or a second shut-off valve, not illustrated in the figures drawing. Finally, there is a flatterer (10) placed on the bottom of the terminal. Thus, the aforementioned lower part is in the form of an interior chamber in which are arranged the means necessary for the regulation and distribution of water.
Above the lateral openings (3 2 2) are provided support profiles (11), in the form of angles for example, fixed in an appropriate manner to the cabinet. One or more blocks (12), intended to ensure the protection and the quasi-sealing of the lower part of the terminal are placed in abutment on the angles. These blocks are advantageously made of polyurethane or other material of the same type and have a section slightly smaller than that of the box, so that they can be engaged and moved with the minimum of play. In addition, they are arranged on their upper face (12 -1) with an appropriate cutout, defining a handle (12-2) to facilitate their gripping and allow their lifting inside the terminal. Another handle can optionally be formed on one of their sides to allow their lateral grip.
They also present

thickness, inside which are positioned means for connecting certain members arranged in the lower part of the terminal with other means arranged in the upper part thereof.
The visible upper part of the box presents two successive zones. The first corresponds to the initial above-ground part of the terminal. It is defined by the section of the terminal, the visible front face of which has a cutout or window (13) of sufficient size to allow the introduction of said terminal.
This window is suitably closed by an attached plate (14), secured by screw or otherwise, to the body of the terminal. Above this, an upper chamber (15) is provided, delimited by the upper face of the terminal and by a horizontal plate (16) bearing on consoles (17) or otherwise, acting as a separation with the part apparent lower of the terminal. The brackets (17) are secured in any suitable manner to the side wall of the terminal

both the passage of liason rods. In the chamber (15) thus defined, there is a control wheel (18) associated by the connecting rod (19) with the valve (2), a counting block (20) associated by a connecting rod and transmission (21) to the meter body (1). This last link transmits mechanically or electrically to the counting block (20), the data recorded by the counter (1). In addition, on the front face of the terminal, a second cutout (21) closed by a cover (22) which allows access to the interior of the chamber (15). Cache

terminal. This cover itself has two windows (23 and 24) allowing direct reading from the outside. The window (23) is arranged facing the counting block (20), while the second window (24) can be graduated and is located opposite the upper end (25-1) of the connecting rod (25) associated with the float. When raising the latter, due to the existence of a water table due to any defect in the bottom of the box, we can read the level reached through the window and compared to the scale of graduations.
In the example illustrated in Figure 3, the connection between the meter body (1) and the counting block is provided by a mechanical transmission.
According to a variant of FIGS. 4 and 5, an optical reading of the dial of the counter of the terminal buried in the ground is carried out. For this purpose, there is provided a tubular conduit (26) profiled at its ends, one of them being oriented facing the aforementioned reading dial, the other being bent or otherwise in the upper chamber (15) of the cabinet. One or more reflectors (27) are suitably arranged in the tubular conduit and allow, by reflection and magnification, reading from a distance. To facilitate this, there is provided a lighting means (28) disposed in the lower chamber of the cabinet, intended to illuminate, when the time comes, the meter.
Ce_moyen of lighting such as a bulb, is suitably fixed and protected in said chamber, electric wires introduced into a protective sheath (29) ending in the upper chamber (15), in a suitable place provided with contacts. A generator, of the battery type, can be used temporarily to close the circuit, this action can be performed by the attendant responsible for checking consumption. The latter can finally temporarily remove the cover or protection of the chamber to have access to the stop or distribution control of the valve.
It is emphasized that the insulating blocks, in whatever form and material they are, are fitted with suitable openings for the passage of conduits.
The advantages are apparent from the description. In particular, it is emphasized that the equipment terminal thus designed to allow remote reading of water consumption, can be installed or incorporated outside, being integrated for example in an exterior construction such as a wall or the like. It can optionally be placed inside premises or be under shelter. Furthermore, its sizing can vary depending on the constraints and location characteristics. It can for example be designed for the location of several meters and accessories necessary according to the invention, capable of serving a plurality of subscribers. The internal insulation of the terminal may vary; one can provide for example a particular insulation of the internal walls of the box in replacement or in addition of the insulating blocks.
Remote reading of water consumption can be done by any mechanical, optical, electrical, photographic and other means.
<EMI ID = 8.1> non-limiting of the terminal, authorizing a photographic reading of the meter. The upper face of the box is designed to allow the temporary location of the camera lens.
Finally, the simplicity of the device, its low cost and maintenance cost is emphasized.
According to another characteristic, the counter (1) is connected to a support base (31) arranged to be coupled,
<EMI ID = 9.1>
(30a) and (30b), in communication with the lines (4) and (5) respectively.
A circular bearing surface (30c) is formed concentrically with the top face of the base and has peripherally arrangements (30d) capable of cooperating with complementary arrangements (31a) which the bore of a chamber has.
(31b) formed in the support base (31) and intended to center on said bearing surface (30c) for the positioning and indexing of said base. For example, the arrangements (31a) are constituted by tongues arranged angularly at 120 [deg.], While the arrangements (30d) are choked bayonet lights.
The bottom of the chamber (31b) of the support base (31) has, in correspondence with the channels (30a) and (30b) of the base (30) two channels (31c) and (31d) connected by conduits
(32) and (33) respectively at the entry and exit of the
<EMI ID = 10.1>
mounted in connection with the channels (30a) - (30b) and (31c) - (31d) to ensure a perfectly sealed coupling between the base
(31) and the base (30). Note that the support base (31) has an overflow projection (31e) to act as a support for the counter (1). The inlet and outlet pipes (32) and (33) of the meter are connected in a sealed manner to the boss ('le) to be in communication with the channels (31c) and (31d).
It is therefore conceivable, when the support base (31) equipped with the meter (1) is coupled in a sealed manner on the base (30), that the water supply and departure pipes
(4) and (5) are normally intercepted by the counter (1).
The bayonet coupling system (30d) and (31a) allows rapid mounting and dismounting of the meter (1) with its base (31) relative to the base (30). For this purpose, the base
(31) has radially and overflowed, shouldered cylindrical fingers (34) intended to cooperate with complementary notches (35a) formed at the end of claws (35h) relating to an operating head (35) which covers the meter assembly . This operating head is connected to a gripping member
(35c) in the form of a vertical rod which can be actuated from the opening presented by the above-ground projecting part of the terminal.
As shown more particularly in FIG. 11, each claw (35b) has transversely in its thickness, a retaining ball (36) which appears beyond the corresponding notch (35a), this ball being subject to a spring system ( 37) in order to be temporarily retracted under a bearing force. The depth of each notch is determined so that after engagement of the operating head (35) and positioning of the claws (35b) relative
<EMI ID = 11.1>
retracted by said fingers (34) are found in an overhanging position under the latter in order to ensure the coupling of said operating head with the entire meter. Or the balls (36) can cooperate in the coupling position with complementary fingerprints formed on the fingers.
It will be recalled that the stop valves or valves (2) upstream and downstream of the meter (1), in the bottom of the box, are associated by a connecting rod (19), with a control wheel
<EMI ID = 12.1>
taps (2) to isolate the base (30) at will and consequently the entire meter (1) for disassembly. To do this, proceed as follows.
By the opening of the visible face of the terminal, one engages inside the box, by means of the rod (35c), the operating head (35) which covers the whole of the counter so that the notches (35a ) claws (35b) cooperate with the fingers (34) of the support base (31). There is a supporting effect
<EMI ID = 13.1>
escape the fingers (34) in order to ensure the height coupling of. the head (35) relative to the base (31). We act
<EMI ID = 14.1>
couple the bayonet system (31a) # (30d). It is then enough to remove the entire meter in height with the base
(31) which is kept clipped by means of the retaining balls
(36) which cooperate with the fingers (34). To reassemble the counter (1) and its support base (31), the procedure is the opposite.
As a result, one operates, for the mounting of the meter, in an axial manner without risk of overhang. The support base (31) in combination with the base (30) has indexing means suitable for mounting the water meter, in the right direction.
As indicated in the main patent, the terminal remains equipped with an optical reading device of the dial of the water meter with means of magnification of the reading and possibly means of lighting.
Preferably, the optical reading system is integrated in the inspection door of the terminal in the upper part of the box so that when this door is opened, the reading member completely releases the volume of the part. upper terminal to allow passage of the operating member (35) relating to the removable assembly (31). The actual optical reading system is produced from a
<EMI ID = 15.1> Sir and light from a flashlight whose light beam is directed on the head of a meter.
The optical and lighting system can optionally use a set of deflection mirrors.
It is emphasized that the base (31), taking into account its design allows an inclination of the plane of the meter read head relative to a horizontal plane.
