Abstract

Le procédé consiste à descendre dans l'eau, parallèlement à son bord, un bord d'un textile alourdi par des poids, tandis qu'on tire l'autre bord, normalement muni d'un flotteur, sur une bande de terrain à protéger, le mazout amené par les vagues adhérant au textile et ne pouvant toucher le terrain. Le textile est de préférence un feutre fibreux piqué, d'une largeur de 4 à 8 mètres et peut comporter à sa face inférieure une pellicule de matière imperméable au mazout.
