Abstract
According to the method, to fuel, containing sulphur (4) and to gas, containing oxygen (5), into the furnace is led powdered calcium or magnesium oxide or carbonate (6) in excess regarding the sulphur dioxide, being formed in the combustion chamber. In a following stage (2) outside the combustion chamber in the chimney gasses (8), carrying calcium and/or magnesium oxide, is sprayed water (9) or steam. Alteratively, the powdered oxide (6') can be led directly into the steam gasses (8), leaving the furnace (1). In this way the feeding of suspensions, containing calcium, is avoided.
