Abstract
"MATERIAL DE FRICçãO DE TECIDO DE CARBONO ENTRELAçADO E POROSO PARA EMBREAGEM CÈNICA DE FREIO DE INéRCIA". Divulga-se neste um elemento de fricção melhorado tendo um material de fricção de tecido de carbono entrelaçado, poroso incluindo fibras individuais de carbono revestidas com carbono pirolítico tendo uma superfície aderente e uma superfície de engate inicial. A superfície aderente é colada a um substrato sólido. A superfície de engate de material de fricção é melhorada por formar uma superfície de engate final por remover pelo menos cerca de uma camada de 0,001 polegada de material. Também se divulga um método para formar um elemento de fricção tendo um material de fricção de carbono pirolítico, assim como um método para preparar a superfície de um material de fricção de carbono pirolítico. Por aumentar a densidade do material na superfície de engate por remover pelo menos cerca de 0,001 polegada de material, a taxa de desgaste inicial do material de fricção é substancialmente reduzida.
