Patente de Invenção para "CORPO DE CORDIERITA DE ALTA POROSIDADE, ALTA RESISTêNCIA, BAIXA EXPANSãO, E MéTODO". Uma cerâmica sinterizada que exibe um coeficiente linear médio de expansão térmica (25-800<198>C) abaixo de cerca de 5,0 x 10^ -7^<198>C^ -1^, uma porosidade total entre a faixa de 20% a cerca de 30%. Além disso, o artigo cerâmico sinterizado exibe uma distribuição de tamanho de poro tal que pelo menos cerca de 86% de poros são de um tamanho de poro de menos do que cerca de 2<109>m. Por último, o artigo cerâmico exibe uma estrutura de poro interligada, com os poros exibindo uma forma geralmente alongada, isto é, os poros são predominantemente orientados com seu eixo geométrico longo no plano das tramas. Esta invenção também se refere a um método para produção de um artigo cerâmico de cordierita sinterizado envolvendo primeiro composição e plastificação de uma porção de pó inorgânico de formação de cordierita compreendendo um talco de micro-textura tendo um tamanho de partícula médio menor do que cerca de 2 gm, e preferivelmente um indice de morfologia do talco maior do que cerca de 0,75. A porção compreende adicionalmente pelo menos 4% por peso da mistura de porção de pó inorgânico de uma fonte de formação de Al~ 2~O~ 3~ dispersivel, tendo uma área superficial especifica em excesso de 50 M^ 2^/g, e um ou mais dos componentes de caolim, caolim calcinado, silica, e corundum, cada um tendo um tamanho de partícula médio menor do que 5 <109>m.
