Um artigo superabsorvente da invenção tendo controle de odor e controle microbiano melhorados, compreende uma camada de reforço impermeável a líquido, uma camada intermediária de absorção de líquido contendo um polímero hidrofílico acídico, parcialmente neutralizado, especialmente um poliacrilato reticulado na superfície, e uma camada de topo não absorvente, permeável a líquido, é caracterizado por compreender um agente neutralizante de álcali que é uniformemente distribuído na dita camada intermediária absorvente.
