Abstract

"IOL PARA INIBIR CRESCIMENTO CELULAR E REDUZIR BRILHO". A presente invenção refere-se a uma lente intra-ocular implantável em um olho que inclui um elemento ótico para colocação no saco capsular do olho e para orientar a luz em direção da retina do olho. O elemento ótico é dotado de um eixo geométrico ótico central, uma face anterior, uma face posterior substancialmente oposta, e uma borda periférica entre as faces. A borda periférica é dotada de uma ou mais superfície anguladas ou curvas que reduzem o brilho dentro da IOL. Por exemplo, uma superfície de transição arredondada do lado anterior da borda periférica difunde a intensidade da luz refletida, ou uma composição particular de superfícies de bordas retilíneas refrata a luz de modo a não refletir, ou não reflete de forma alguma. A interseção da borda periférica e de pelo menos um de face anterior e face posterior, de foram preferida ambas as referidas faces, forma um canto periférico localizado na descontinuidade entre a borda periférica e a face ou faces de interseção. As presentes IOLs inibem o crescimento celular a partir de olho na frente ou atrás do elemento ótico e reduzem o brilho obtido no olho no qual a IOL se encontra localizada.
