Abstract
"PROCESSO PARA OBTENçãO DE DIóXIDO DE TITâNIO E/OU TRIHIDRóXIDO DE ALUMìNIO". é comum na natureza a existência de rochas que contém simultaneamente minérios de alumínio e titânio. Ambos podem ser extraídos para a obtenção de produtos de grande aplicabilidade industrial. O dióxido de titânio, em função de seu alto índice de refração, é amplamente utilizado como pigmento para conferir brilho, alvura e opacidade a produtos como tintas, plásticos, papéis e cosméticos, sendo o pigmento branco mais utilizado na indústria atualmente. O trihidróxido de alumínio possui algumas aplicações como a de entrar na composição de plásticos e materiais sintéticos para diminuir sua combustão e quando calcinado produz o óxido de alumínio, produto que, face a sua alta resistência térmica e mecânica encontra ampla utilização na indústria de refratários e abrasivos. Pelo presente pedido é apresentado um processo que permite a obtenção do dióxido de titânio e do trihidróxido de alumínio ou de cada um deles isoladamente a partir da rocha que contém os respectivos minérios.
