Abstract
"MéTODO DE DETECçãO DE OCUPANTE DE VEìCULO A MOTOR EMPREGANDO MODELOS COM FORMA DE ELIPSE E CLASSIFICAçãO BAYESIANA". Um objeto (20) sobre um assento (16) de um veículo a motor (10) é classificado criando uma imagem de vídeo da área e formando uma silhueta do objeto. A silhueta é dividida em dois segmentos e uma elipse separada (64, 66) é posicionada para aproximar a forma de cada segmento. Os parâmetros que definem a localização e tamanho das duas elipses (64,66) formam um vetor de aspecto para o objeto (20). Uma função de classificação Bayesiana utiliza o vetor de aspecto para determinar a probabilidade que o objeto se encaixe dentro de cada uma de uma pluralidade de classes. Uma classe para o objeto (20) é determinada baseado nas probabilidades. Este método pode ser usado para controlar a operação de uma bolsa de ar (24) no veículo a motor (10) em resposta à classe do objeto no assento.
