Abstract

"MATERIAL PARA A ELIMINAçãO DOS óXIDOS DE NITROGêNIO COM ESTRUTURA EM LâMINAS". A presente invenção refere-se a materiais para a eliminação dos óxidos de nitrogênio NO e NO~ 2~ presentes em gases de escapamento, em especial de motores de combustão interna de veículos automóveis que funcionam em meio sobreestequiométrico em oxidantes, que podem adsorver os óxidos de nitrogênio, e depois que podem dessorver os óxidos de nitrogênio por elevação da temperatura, em relação à temperatura de adsorção ou por passagem em uma mistura rica, os ditos materiais compreendendo óxidos mistos dos quais os metais estão em coordenação octaédrica, octaedros que se encadeiam de modo a que a estrutura gere lâminas. Esses materiais adsorvem os óxidos de nitrogênio por inserção e não se envenenam em contato com os óxidos de enxófre e de carbono contidos nos gases. Na presença de um metal do grupo VIII, esses materiais são capazes de eliminar os óxidos de nitrogênio adsorvidos por redução por ocasião da passagem em mistura rica.
