A caracterização colorida é configurada por pelo menos uma camada entintada (11) do revestimento de proteção (7) assim como por marcas coloridas (13) aplicadas sobre o revestimento de proteção (7). Desta maneira, pode ser produzida uma grande variedade de diferentes caracterizações de fibras ópticas (1) de maneira simples e favorável em termos de custo (fig.).
