A qualidade doruído de conforto gerado por um decodificador de fala (93) duranteperíodos de não conversação e melhorada modificando (30, 75)valores de parâmetro de ruído de fundo (33) normalmente usadopara gerar ruído de conforto. Os valores de parâmetros de ruído deconforto são modificados em resposta a informação devariabilidade (43) associada a um parâmetro de ruído de fundo.
