Abstract
"PROCESSO APERFEIçOADO DE HIDROFOBIZAçãO DE VERMICULITA EXPANDIDA E APLICAçãO". Descreve-se um processo aperfeiçoado para produzir vermiculita expandida hidrofobizada, utilizando-se de reagentes orgânicos derivados de silício, tais como, etilsilicato, organohalogeniossilanos, siloxanos e silicones, que ao entrarem em contato com a vermiculita expandida, após a sua expansão, a uma temperatura inferior a 800<198>C, a transforma em material hidrofóbico, ou seja, hidrorepelente. O reagente orgânico reage firmemente com a superfície da vermiculita expandida, tornando-a apta a adsorver com mais eficácia, líquidos orgânicos, tais como óleos e petróleo e seus derivados, de águas industriais ou quaisquer tipo de águas contaminadas com estes líquidos assim como, óleos derramados em solos impermeáveis. O produto originado poderá ser usado também na forma de almofadas e cordões para limpeza de caixas de gorduras.
