Abstract
"TRATAMENTO DE CALáZIO CRÈNICO E HORDéOLO COM TOXINA BOTULINìCA". Calázios e hordéolos são as lesões mais comuns que ocorrem na pálpebra humana, e freqüentemente as recorrências são tratadas por intervenção cirúrgica para remover inclusões de gordura dentro da pálpebra com reação inflamatória associada. A presente invenção refere-se a métodos não-cirúrgicos para tratar calázios, hordéolos e infecções cutâneas compreendendo a administração de composições compreendendo toxina botulínica. A presente invenção proporciona métodos que bloqueiam de modo eficaz a secreção de meibo pelas glândulas meibomianas, reduz os meios de cultura bacteriana sebácea sobre a pele e a secreção sebácea das glândulas de Zeis. A redução da produção de meibo e de substâncias gordurosas associadas, resultante dos métodos da presente invenção, diminui o bloqueio glandular e inspissações (espessamentos) dos tecidos, resultando na redução da recorrência de calázios, hordéolos e reações inflamatórias relacionadas e lesões.
