Abstract
"ARTIGOS BASEADOS EM óXIDO DE SILìCIO". A presente invenção refere-se a artigos particularmente moldados constituídos por óxido de silício, como tal ou adequadamente aditivado, preparados por moldagem à temperatura ambiente de acordo com um processo consistindo na: preparação de um sol partindo de um alcóxido de silício ou de um alcóxido de silício e pelo menos um precursor de pelo menos um dos elementos adicionais; - hidrólise do sol obtido desse modo; - adição de sílica coloidal; - derramamento da mistura resultante no molde desejado; - gelificação do sol e rápida remoção do produto sólido; - secagem do gel; - densificação do gel por meio de um tratamento térmico em temperaturas situando-se na faixa de 900<198>C a 1500<198>C. Os artigos podem ser usados como preformas para a fiação de fibra ótica.
