Abstract
"MéTODO PARA PRODUZIR PLANTAS TRANSGêNICAS E PARA MODULAR A ATIVIDADE DE CITOCININA EM PLANTAS, PLANTAS TRANSGêNICAS, DNA RECOMBINANTE, PROMOTOR E CASSETE DE EXPRESSãO". Esta invenção se refere, em geral, ao campo de biologia molecular de plantas. Mais especificamente, esta invenção se refere a métodos e reagentes para a expressão temporalmente- e/ou espacialmente-regulada de genes que afetam metabolicamente os níveis efetivos de citocininas em plantas, particularmente em sementes de planta e tecido reprodutivo feminino relacionado. Esta invenção adicionalmente se refere a plantas transgênicas tendo níveis melhorados de expressão de citocinina, sendo que a planta transgênica apresenta características úteis, tais como tamanho de semente melhorado, aborto de extremidade de grão diminuído, aumentada produção de semente durante condições ambientais desfavoráveis, ou estabilidade de produtividade. This invention generally relates to the field of plant molecular biology. More specifically, this invention relates to methods and reagents for the temporally- and / or spatially-regulated expression of genes that metabolically affect effective cytokine levels in plants, particularly in plant seeds and related female reproductive tissue. This invention further relates to transgenic plants having improved levels of cytokine expression, the transgenic plant having useful characteristics such as improved seed size, decreased grain end miscarriage, increased seed yield during unfavorable environmental conditions, or stability. productivity The present invention also provides compositions and methods for regulating the expression of heterologous nucleotide sequences in a plant. The compositions comprise novel nucleotide sequences for seed-preferred promoters known as eep1 and eep2. A method is provided for expressing a heterologous nucleotide sequence in a plant using the promoter sequences disclosed herein. The method comprises transforming a plant cell to comprise a heterologous nucleotide sequence operably linked to one of the promoters of the present invention and regenerating a stably transformed plant from the transformed plant cell.
