Abstract

"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA CONTROLAR O ACESSO A UM SERVIçO DE DIFUSãO/MULTIDIFUSãO DE MULTIMìDIA EM UM SISTEMA DE COMUNICAçãO DE DADOS POR PACOTE". Um sistema de comunicação (100) determina se estabelece uma comunicação ponto-a-multiponto ou uma comunicação ponto-a-ponto para o transporte de dados do Serviço de Difusão/Multidifusão de Multimídia (MBMS) com base em um número de estações móveis (MSs) (102-104), tanto no modo desocupado como mantendo uma conexão ativa, servida pelo sistema e assinada a um serviço MBMS. O sistema difunde (306) uma mensagem de controle que inclui um fator de probabilidade de acesso. Para evitar a sobrecarga do sistema com respostas à mensagem de controle, as MSs que mantém uma conexão ativa ignoram (506, 508) a mensagem de controle enquanto as MSs no modo desocupado determinam (506, 512) se respondem com base no fator de probabilidade de acesso. O sistema compara (310) o número de respostas recebidas a um limite e determina se estabelece uma comunicação ponto-a-multiponto (312) ou uma comunicação ponto-a-ponto (322) com base na comparação. O sistema também ajusta (314, 330) o fator de probabilidade de acesso com base no número de respostas.
