Abstract

"MéTODOS PARA O TRANSPORTE DE ENXOFRE ELEMENTAR, PARA A EXTRAçãO DE ENXOFRE ELEMENTAR DE UMA FORMAçãO GEOLóGICA CONTENDO ENXOFRE SUBSTANCIALMENTE ISENTA DE áGUA, PARA A EXTRAçãO DE ENXOFRE ELEMENTAR DE SóLIDOS CARBONáCEOS SUBSTANCIALMENTE ANIDROS E PARA A ESTOCAGEM DE ENXOFRE ELEMENTAR, E, COMPOSIçãO DE MATéRIA". Enxofre elementar é combinado com amónia anidra líquida ou dióxido de enxofre líquido, ou ambos, para formar uma solução ou suspensão que é transportável através de dutos ou outros vasos de transporte, sem o risco do entupimento devido a quedas na temperatura ambiental que estes vasos tipicamente enfrentam. Este comportamento não usual e as vantagens que ele oferece são decorrentes da verificação de relações inesperadas de solubilidade contra a temperatura do enxofre elementar, em cada um destes dois carreadores. Entre as vantagens estão as melhorias significativas na economia de vários processos químicos industriais que envolvem a presença de enxofre na forma elementar ou combinado quimicamente, incluindo a produção e o processamento de gás natural ou areia de alcatrão, a eliminação de sulfeto de hidrogênio, a produção de hidrogênio sem emissões de dióxido de carbono, e a extração de enxofre de minérios, depósitos subterrâneos, depósitos, ou instalações industriais prejudicadas por incrustações.
