A composição e aplicação são apresentadas por uma combinação à base de sulfito de polifenileno (PPS) A combinação à base de PPS pode compreender cerca de 40% a 95% em peso de uma resina de PPS e cerca de 5% a 60% em peso de um copolímero olefínico e um elastómero. A combinação à base de PPS tem melhorado resistência ao impacto, alongamento à ruptura e flexibilidade comparada ao PPS e pode ser usada na construção de artigos onde essas propriedades são desejadas em adição às propriedades tipicamente associadas com PPS. A combinação à base de PPS pode ser incorporada como uma camada terminal em um material que consiste de múltiplas camadas o qual pode ser usado na formação de artigos de fabricação, incluíndo as peças individuais de um artigo constituído de múltiplas peças.
