A invenção refere-se a um documento de valor, especialmente uma cédula bancária, tendo um substrato de documento de valor e pelo menos duas substâncias características diferentes para verificar o documento de valor. De acordo com a invenção, a primeira substância característica é incorporada no volume do substrato do documento de valor e a segunda substância característica é aplicada ao substrato do documento de valor na forma de uma codificação.
