Abstract

PEPTìDEOS PARA INIBIçãO DE INSETOS. A presente invenção refere-se ao uso de fragmentos peptídicos de caderina (incluindo proteínas semelhantes à caderina). A invençãoem questão inclui uma célula (e uso da mesma) compreendendo um polinucleotídeo que expressa do fragmento peptídico. A invenção em questão inclui métodos de alimentação de peptídeos a insetos. Em modalidades preferidas, os peptídeos são alimentos a insetos alvo junto com uma ou mais proteínas inset cida, de preferência ( mas não limitado a) proteínas Cry de B.t. Quando usado dessa maneira, o fragmento peptídico pode não apenas intensificar a atividade evidente da toxina de proteína Cry contra espécies de inseto que foram a fonte do receptor, mas também contra outras pestes de inseto. De preferência, a caderina é um receptor da toxina de proteína de cristal (ry) de bacillus thuringiensis (B.t.). Em algumas modalidades preferidas, o peptídeo é o domínio de ligação mais próximo ao ectodom nio proximal da menbrana. Domínios correspondentes são identificáveis em uma variedade de receptores de toxina de B.t.
