Abstract
INSPEçãO ELETROMAGNéTICA PARA CORPOS RESISTIVOS OU CONDUTIV0S. Um método de análise de dados de inspeção eletromagnética de uma área de fundo do mar (6) que é imaginada ou conhecida por conter um corpo condutivo ou resistivo, tal como um reservatório subterrâneo de hidrocarboneto (12), é descrito. O método inclui prover dados de campo elétrico e dados de campo magnético, por exemplo, densidade do fluxo magnético, obtidos por pelo menos um receptor (25) de um transmissor (22) de dipolo elétrico horizontal (HED) e determinar um gradiente vertical nos dados do campo elétrico. Os gradientes verticais nos dados do campo elétrico e nos dados do campo magnético são então combinados para gerar dados de resposta combinados. Os dados de resposta combinados são comparados com dados de experiência específicos para a área sendo inspecionada para obter dados de diferença sensíveis à presença de um reservatório de hidrocarboneto subterrâneo. Porque os dados de resposta combinados são relativamente insensíveis ao componente do modo elétrico transversal (TE) do sinal transmitido, o método permite que os reservatórios de hidrocarboneto sejam detectados em águas rasas onde o componente do modo TE interagindo com o ar, de outra forma, dominaria. Além do mais, porque não existe mistura entre os modos TE e magnético transversal (TM) nos dados de resposta combinados, os dados de todas as orientações possíveis de transmissor e receptor podem ser usados. Os dados de experiência podem ser providos pela inspeção magnetotelúrica, inspeção eletromagnética de fonte controlada ou de medição geofísica direta.
