Abstract

PROCESSO E PLANTA PARA PRODUZIR áCIDO SULFúRICO A PARTIR DE GASES RICOS EM DIóXIDO DE ENXOFRE. A presente invenção se refere a um processo e a uma planta para produzir ácido sulfúrico, na qual um gás de partida contendo dióxido de enxofre reage, pelo menos parcialmente, com oxigênio molecular em, pelo menos, um contato com pelo menos um estágio de contato para formar trióxido de enxofre, e no qual o gás contendo trióxido de enxofre produzido é introduzido em um absorvedor e convertido ali em ácido sulfúrico. Para conseguir que somente pequenos volumes de gás devam ser fornecidos ao primeiro estágio de contato, baseando-se na quantidade de dióxido de enxofre utilizada, com pelo menos a mesma capacidade da planta e pelo uso de catalisadores convencionais, é proposto, de acordo com a invenção, fornecer ao primeiro estágio de contato um gás de contato com um conteúdo de dióxido de enxofre maior do que 16% em volume e com uma proporção volumétrica de dióxido de enxofre em relação a oxigênio de mais do que 2,67:1.
