Abstract

The present invention relates to an improved user-friendly phacoemulsification system and tactile operation capability including a control unit and a handpiece with a needle and a vibration unit that is configured to vibrate by needle ultrasound. The handpiece includes a needle and a vibration unit to ultrasonically vibrate the needle according to a variable parameter, such as frequency, shape, size, duty cycle, and so on. The control unit is configured to adjust the parameter value. A monitor is operatively connected to the control unit to display a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI includes an adjustable control element, such as a slider bar, radio buttons, or handles, and an indication element that indicates the parameter value, either numerically or graphically. An interface device such as a touch screen, mouse or keyboard is operatively connected to the control unit to allow a user to adjust the control element. The control unit is configured to change the parameter value at least in response to user control element adjustments.
