MéTODO DE OBTENçãO DE ARGILA EXPANDIDA COM O USO DE AMINOALQUILSILANOS E ARGILA EXPANDIDA COM O USO DE ANINOALQUILSILANOS, compreende um método no qual uma argila, da família dos filossilicatos, é submetida a um tratamento químico, em solvente aquoso ou orgânico, na qual ocorre um aumento do seu espaçamento interlamelar (ou espaçamento basal) em conseqüência da intercalação de um aminoalquisilano entre as lamelas do mineral; o aminoalquilsilano atua como agente de intumescimento e ao mesmo tempo como modificador de superfície do mineral; a argila modificada apresenta um elevado espaçamento basal e alta estabilidade térmica, além de possuir grupos funcionais em sua superfície que permitem uma boa adesão com matrizes poliméricas.METHOD FOR EXPANDING CLAY WITH THE USE OF AMINOalkylSILANS AND EXPANDED CLAY WITH THE USE OF ANINOalkylsilans comprises a method in which a clay of the phyllosilicate family is subjected to a chemical treatment in aqueous or organic solvent in which a increased interlamellar spacing (or basal spacing) as a result of the intercalation of an aminoalkyl silane between the mineral lamellae; aminoalkylsilane acts as a swelling agent and at the same time as a mineral surface modifier; The modified clay presents a high basal spacing and high thermal stability, besides having functional groups on its surface that allow a good adhesion with polymeric matrices.
