Abstract
CONJUNTO DE CATETER COM EFEITO BACTERICIDA. A presente invenção refere-se ao uso em um dispositivo médico de pelo menos um sal de ácido(s) orgânico(s), e preferivelmente um benzoato ou um sorbato, como um agente antimicrobiano. Em particular para a fabricação de um revestimento antimicrobiano para um dispositivo médico para a prevenção de infecção bacteriana. Isto é bastante útil em dispositivos médicos dotados de um revestimento hidrófilo, tal como cateteres urinários hidrófilos. é adicionalmente preferido que o pH do revestimento hidrófilo seja controlado para estar em uma faixa de 4,0 - 8,0, e preferivelmente na faixa de 5,0 - 6,0. é também preferido que o pH do revestimento hidrófilo seja controlado para estar abaixo de 7,0. O pH do revestimento hidrófilo pode ser controlado por meio de um tampão de pH, e preferivelmente um tampão citrato ou fosfato. Especificamente, a provisão de um sal de ácido orgânico em combinação com um tampão de pH provou de forma surpreendente ser eficiente para a inibição do desenvolvimento bacteriano, e para a prevenção de infecções bacterianas.
