The present invention relates to a surgical instrument for use in connection with a pneumatically energized tool having a release mechanism operably supported therein that is movable between an un-actuated position and an actuated position. a pneumatically energized drive system operably communicates with the pneumatically energized tool and is configured to selectively apply at least one launch force to the pneumatically energized tool launch mechanism of sufficient magnitude to cause the launch mechanism to move from the non-actuated position to the actuated position in response to a flow of gas from a gas source that is fluidly coupled to the pneumatically energized drive system. at least one feedback device communicates with the pneumatically energized drive system to provide feedback with respect to at least one of: (a) the magnitude of the launch force when the pneumatically energized drive system moves the launch mechanism from the no position. triggered to triggered and (b) a relative position of the launching mechanism when the launching mechanism is moved between the non-triggered and triggered positions.
