Abstract

It is a patent for invention in the area of electric power and steam generation in biomass-powered thermoelectric plants, in particular sugarcane bagasse, combined with biogas, natural gas, diesel, biodiesel and <sym> or similar in combined cycle. The efficiency of the plant can be increased by up to 60 <sym> by reheating the steam generated by burning sugarcane bagasse and by using the biogas generated by anaerobic digestion of vinasse resulting from the production of sugar <sym> ethanol through sugarcane. Biogas is first burned in suitable engines and its exhaust used to reheat steam extracted from the high-pressure steam turbine. With reheating there is no need to use high pressures and temperatures used in the latest generation plants obtaining much more energy for export with lower investment and maintenance costs. Burning biogas from vinasse qualifies the plant for carbon credits through the United Nations CDM program further improving the economic viability of the venture.

CAMPO DA INVENÇÃOFIELD OF INVENTION

This is a patent for the invention in the area of electric power generation evaporate in biomass-fired thermoelectric plants, especially bagasse dean, combined with biogas, natural gas, diesel, biodiesel and / or similar.

In conventional thermoelectric plants, for example, composed of engines or turbines powered by natural gas or other fuels (diesel oil, kerosene, gasoline, etc.), it is common to take advantage of the thermal energy present in the exhaust gases of thermal machines for steam generation in boilers. recovery. This steam can be expanded into a steam turbine coupled to an electric generator or used directly in industrial processes, considerably increasing the overall efficiency of the plant. This process is called a combined cycle and is in common use in several plants in the world. Recovery boilers differ from conventional boilers in that exhaust gases from thermal machines are generally at temperatures much lower, below 700 ° C, than those commonly found in conventional boiler gases above 1000 ° C. Generally thermoelectric plants powered by solid fuels such as biomass, coal, industrial and / or urban waste (garbage) generate hot gases in an oven where these solid fuels are incinerated, and the heat of these gases is used to steam in a boiler inside the oven itself or adjacent to this one. In the case of sugarcane bagasse plants, a large part of the steam produced in the sugar cane is used in the process of producing alcohol and / or sugar. In order to increase the thermodynamic efficiency of thermoelectric plants, the temperature and steam pressure must be increased, and the most modern sugarcane bagasse plants reach 100 bar / 520 ° C which decreases the boiler life and / or increases its capital cost and maintenance. One way to solve this problem and further increase the efficiency of these lower cost plants is to use lower boiler pressure and temperatures, say around 67bar / 480 ° C, using a high pressure turbine with intermediate pressure extraction between 15 and 21 bar. . The amount of extraction steam should be the difference between total steam and process steam, which is generally used at 2.5 bar pressure. After extraction steam must be reheated using the biogas-powered engine or turbine exhaust generated by the aerobic digestion of the vinasse. Vinasse is a highly polluting liquid waste that results from the process of obtaining ethanol and sugar. In the bio-manager besides biogas, good quality organic fertilizer is obtained, much less polluting than vinasse and easy to handle. The problem is that for the large quantities of steam associated with sugar cane plants the amount of biogas available does not allow the adoption of a compatible biogas turbine and / or engine to reheat all steam extracted from the high pressure turbine. This problem is solved by the scheme proposed in this pending application as follows: We use a portered-biogas engine or biogas turbine and supplement the exhaust flow with fresh air preheated with hot gases after the steam reheat extracted from the high-pressure turbine. Through a biogas duct burner we raise the temperature of the gas mixture to the value necessary to reheat the steam at intermediate pressure. In this way we dramatically reduce biogas consumption by making the process available to the available quantity, without losing the advantage of the high thermodynamic efficiency due to the reheating of the intermediate pressure. This reheated steam is used in a condensing steam turbine while the remaining steam that has not been extracted is expanded in the back pressure turbine to the process steam pressure, typically 2.5 bar.

ESTADO DA TÉCNICATECHNICAL STATE

No. 5.724.807, U.S.Pat. No.4.882.903, U.S.Pat. No. 4.957.049, U.S.Pat. No. 4.852.344. e U.S.Pat. The use of combined cycle plants combining natural gas and solid fuels is common and well established. The Spanish delix incineration plant of Zabalgarbi in the city of Bilbao, described in Annex 1, uses a modified combined cycle process where saturated steam, produced by a conventional boiler inside the waste incinerator, is overheated by the exhaust of a turbine. natural gas in another recovery boiler outside the incinerator. This process allows the steam to be overheated to 540 ° C at 100 bar pressure without the use of special pipe materials, increasing the thermodynamic efficiency of the turbine. The drawback of this system is due to the high consumption of natural gas which represents about 78% of the total energy consumed by the plant. Various US patents among them U.S.Pat. No. 5,724,807, U.S.Pat. No. 4,882,903, U.S.Pat. No. 4,957,049, U.S.Pat. No. 4,852,344. and U.S.Pat. No. 5,072,675 address the advantage of natural gas in increasing the yield of ethanol but do not address the problem of high consumption of natural gas, a fossil fuel, or ways to reduce it. The proposed system in this patent maintains the high thermodynamic efficiency of biomass-energy plants with biogas and / or natural gas and the like but greatly reduces biogas consumption. The author of this patent application has filed with INPI patent application PI0701249-7 for natural gas / urban solid waste (garbage) thermoelectric plants using similar principle.

DESCRIÇÃO DO SISTEMASYSTEM DESCRIPTION

Considere a Figura 1. A steam cycle with two pressures (67 bar / 480 ° C and 16 bar / 380 ° C) and reheating was considered for the purpose of exemplifying numerical results, but other compatible pressures and temperatures may be adopted without prejudice to process. Thermal machine (10) should be specified to supply only the plant's own approximate consumption, generally about 10% of the total plant production. This machine receives thermal energy E1 from biogas (or similar), transforms part of this energy directly into electrical energy (generator W1), and the rest of the energy goes to the exhaust gases and another part is lost to the environment. Exhaust gases from the thermal machine, usually between 400 ° C and 600 ° C, are mixed with fresh air, preheated to T3 'temperature between 350 ° C and 400 ° C on the heat exchangers (9) and (13). . The mixture, at a temperature TO approximately 425 ° C, receives additional energy E2 in the supplemental biogas burners (11) so as to raise the intermediate pressure vapor temperature (16 bar / 300 ° C) in the superheater (2). After giving heat to the steam at the superheat, the gas temperature T2, approximately 410 ° C, preheats the above-mentioned air mixture to about 380 ° C and is cooled to T2' values approximately 300 ° C in the heat exchanger. (13). We can optionally use these gases at T2 'to preheat the feed water in the timer (3) by being cooled to T2 ". These gases are mixed with preheated purpure at 160 ° C in the heat exchanger (9) with the boiler-combustion gases. resulting in a 14 'mixture between 160 ° C and 200 ° C which is used as combustion air in the bagasse boiler grill (14) with oxygen concentration between 18% and 20% by volume. NOx formation in the incinerator in addition to promoting the bagasse drying in the combustion chamber. The combustion air flow is adjusted so that the gases receive the E4 bagasse thermal energy and leave the combustion grill at a temperature of TI between 950 ° C and 1050 ° C. This temperature is lowered to RT by the optional recirculation (25) of part of the gases leaving the heat exchangers (8) and (9) at temperature T10.In the water wall section the temperature is reduced to RT by about 750 ° C, and gives off the heat in the recovery boiler composed of heat exchangers (4), (5), (7), (8) and (9), which are respectively evaporator, superheater (67 bar / 480 ° C) economizer, economizer2 and air preheater. As the temperature T7 of the gases leaving the economizer (7) is about 200 ° C, condensation of gases may occur in the economizers (8) and (9). In this case we use condensation heat exchanger with Teflon coated tubes for (8) and glass outeflon for (9). The gases leave the last heat exchangers (8) and (9) at temperature T10 at about 90 ° C and are directed to the chimney (16). The overheated vapor at 67 bar / 480 ° C in the superheater (5) supplies the backpressure steam turbines (17) and (23), with discharge pressure equal to that of the 2.5 bar process steam generating electric power W2 and W4. The steam extracted at intermediate pressure corresponds to the excess above the process steam and is reheated to about 40 ° C in the reheater (2) as described above and expanded in the condensing turbine (18) generating the electric power W3.

Parte do vapor deprocesso (5') é usada para promover a saturação do desaerador (27).After the turbine the steam is condensed at (19) and (24) and pumped by (20) to 2.5 bar pressure returning to the low pressure economizer (8) and then to the deaerator (27) returning to the deaerator ( 27). In this case the 2.5 bar saturated liquid is pumped by (21) to the pressure of 67 bar to the high pressure economizer (7) and then to the evaporator (4), (22) where the saturated steam at 67 bar / 283 ° C is generated. Some older plants use mechanical drive for ethanol and sugar production devices and in this case the steam extraction should be higher for back pressure turbines (25) discharging at 2.5 bar process pressure with the turbine (23). The process steam is directed to the dean plant (26) and after the process returning to the deaerator. Part of the process steam (5 ') is used to promote saturation of the deaerator (27).

OF THE SYSTEM The plant can operate in either combined cycle as described above or as illustrated in Figure 2 without the biogas turbine / engine. In this case it is sufficient to increase the preheated fresh air flow to T3 'and adjust the biogas quantities in the burner (11) to overheat the vapor according to the same values as in the previous case. In the case of Figure 1, we used an 8.034 MWe gas engine with 41.9% yield. With exhaust gas12,453 kg / s at 467 ° C. The capacity of the bagasse boiler is 5340 ton / day with 1800 Kcal / kg PCI, corresponding to a thermal power of 466MWt. The vapor cycle adopted was 67 bar and 480 ° C at high pressure; 16 bar and 380 ° C at low pressure and 0.1 bar condenser pressure. The slow process amount is 356 tv / h. The isentropic efficiencies of avapor turbines are 82% and 87% for high and low pressure. Considering that the whole (sugar cane and bagasse) consumes 28.3 MWe the net electricity exported to the grid is 99.3 MWe. In this case the total biogas consumption is 28 MWt. These figures correspond to about 112 KWh / ton of cane or about 60% more energy than modern bagasse mills.
