A presente invenção revela plasmídeos funcionais nas bactérias do ,gênero Aciditiobacilius, tais como, as espécies Aciditiobacilius ferrooxidans, Aciditiobacillus thiooxidans e Aciditiobacilius caldus e um método para transformar com sucesso as bactérias do gênero Aciditiobacillus, tais como, as espécies Aciditiobacillus ferrooxidans, Aciditiobacillus thiooxindans e Aciditiobacilius caldus com esses plasmídeos.
