Abstract

The design consists of the features of shape, configuration, ornamentation and pattern as applied to the toothbrush shown in the drawings. The most significant feature is a bristle-bearing head portion at the end of an elongated gripping portion. The gripping portion, which forms part of the article, does not form part of the design. The gripping portion is shown in broken lines. The head portion of the toothbrush has a generally oval shape in plan, and includes stippled and non-stippled surfaces representing a visual contrast resulting from the different appearances of the surfaces. The stippled surface is disposed about the edge of the toothbrush head, terminating short of the neck portion of the toothbrush, and extends partly to the top and bottom surfaces of the toothbrush head. The stippled surface on the bottom of the toothbrush head portion has a scallop-edged margin.The toothbrush head portion is further provided with an arrangement of bristle tufts, including spaced forward and rearward portions. The tufts in the forward portion are angled away from the gripping portion and extend beyond the free end of the toothbrush head portion. The distal ends of the bristles in the forward portion of tufts have a slanted upper margin in profile. The rearward portion of the tufts is arranged in a plurality of rows disposed parallel to the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush. A central row of tufts is angled toward the gripping portion of the toothbrush. Outer rows of tufts are angled in the opposite direction. Tufts in each row have at least two different cross-sectional shapes. The rearward portion of the bristle tufts in flanked by a plurality of spaced generally conically-shaped elements with rounded upper margins. The conically-shaped elements have stippled surfaces and extend upwardly from stippled surfaces on the toothbrush head portion.
