SPECIFICATION OF THE INVENTION
DUa1 Compartment ~a~te Contaln r The present lnventlon relates to a Du-l Comp-rtm-nt W-~te Container for ~eparatlng wet or ~ry waste at the Jource to facilltate further procesalng or dlspo~al of ~uch waste. The preferred embodlment of the preJent lnventlon further comprlses separate hlnged llds and romovable fltted ln~erts to facllltato selectlve removal and tranqport of eithor compartment to secondary contalners ~uch as garbago can~.
It is common ln dlsposing of houqehold waste or refuse to place the waste materlal lnto a waste receptacle or container. It 1~
al~o common for waste materlal to be lntermingled regardless of moisture content or biodegradability. It 1~ disadvantageou~ to the envlronment to dlspo~e of non-blodegradable and blo-degradable waste materlals wlthout separatlng them for thelr respectlve flnal processlng.
I have found that the~e dl~advantage~i can be overcome by comprlJlng two compartmentJ within a single enclosure whereln the hlnged lids or cover~ of the compartments are equlpped wlth ~.~.
gaskets or seals to contaln odors or splllage when being moved.
It ls desirable to have a method of ~eparatlng wa~te or ~-~ refuse into at least two types, namely wet or dry. The prosent invention relates to a dual compartment waste dlsposal container S0 within a household.
:
The present invention consists of a i~ingle enclosure for two removable canisters or receptacles separated within the enclosure by an integral divider. The divider may preferably be integrally welded, stamped or molded into the enclosuro. The receptacles may preferably be of identical capacity and dimension. The ~- receptacle~ may preferably also be fabricated of ~heet metal or molded plastlc of non-corrosive types. The outer enclosure may preferably be manufactured of sheet metal or molded plastic with mo}ded, machinedi welded or otherwise attached hlngeJ at the rearmost and uppermost edge of the enclo~ure.
In another a~pect of the invention, the complete as~embly may be mounted on slides or rails such as drawer slides to permit ea-~y maneuverability from beneath cupboardJ or counters normally found in kitchens or ships' galleys.
