Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil pour l'alimentation d'une enceinte de fusion en oxydes de fer en dirigeant un gaz de dégagement chaud de l'enceinte vers un conduit vertical, sans qu'il y ait refroidissement significatif du gaz de dégagement, et en entraînant un matériau contenant des particules d'oxyde de fer dans le gaz de dégagement réducteur chaud lorsque le gaz monte dans le conduit. Le gaz chaud chauffe le matériau entraîné, à une température à laquelle s'opère la réduction partielle d'oxyde de fer, le gaz chaud perdant ainsi de la chaleur sensible. Des matières additionnelles peuvent être introduites dans le conduit pour qu'elles soient entraînées par le gaz. Les matières particulaires sont séparées du gaz et la matière partiellement réduite est introduite dans l'enceinte de fusion. La matière particulaire peut être recyclée en totalité ou en partie dans un conduit vertical avant que la matière partiellement réduite soit introduite dans l'enceinte de fusion et que seulement une partie des gaz de dégagement réducteurs chauds émis par l'enceinte puissent être acheminées dans le conduit. L'invention a également pour objet l'appareil servant à mettre en oeuvre le dit procédé.
