Abstract
Procédé de spectrométrie de masse selon lequel un ou plusieurs signaux de tension alternative supplémentaires de grande puissance et un ou plusieurs signaux de tension alternative supplémentaires de faible puissance sont appliqués à un piège à ions (26). La fréquence de chaque tension alternative supplémentaire est choisie de manière à s'assortir à une fréquence de résonance d'un ion ayant un rapport masse-charge désiré. Les signaux de tension supplémentaire de faible puissance sont appliqués afin de dissocier des ions spécifiques (par exemple des ions parents) au sein du piège et les signaux de tension supplémentaire de grande puissance sont appliqués pour faire résonner des produits du procédé de dissociation (par exemple des ions de filiation) de manière à ce qu'ils puissent être détectés. Dans une catégorie de réalisations, les signaux de tension de grande puissance font résonner des ions de filiation en dehors du piège de manière à ce qu'ils soient détectés par un détecteur externe (24). Dans une autre catégorie de réalisations, chaque signal de tension de grande puissance fait résonner les ions de filiation uniquement à un degré suffisant pour qu'ils soient détectés par un détecteur placé au sein du piège. (Ledit détecteur peut comprendre une ou plusieurs des électrodes (11-13) qui définissent le champ de piège, ou être monté intégralement avec lesdites électrodes).
