Abstract

On peut utiliser l'arbalète dans le tir de sport ainsi que pour chasser. Elle comprend un élément central (1), des membres (2) courbés dans la direction de tir, des poulies (3) fixées aux extrémités libres des membres (2), un câble (4) passant sur les poulies (3), ainsi qu'un fût (5) sur lequel sont montés l'élément central (1) ainsi qu'un mécanisme de libération (6). Le fût est doté d'une voie (8) destinée à la coulisse (7), ladite voie étant dotée d'une gorge (15), d'un canal situé au-dessous du câble (4) et d'encoches (12) dont le nombre est égal au nombre de lobes (14) sur le trait (9). Les membres (2) sont conçus de manière que la somme des forces du système "membres-poulies" et "trait-coulisse", à n'importe quel moment lorsque les membres sont redressés, tendent vers zéro.
