Dans cette formule, R1 représente hydrogène, acyle ou alkyle inférieur; R2 et R3 peuvent être identiques ou différents, et représentent chacun hydrogène, alkyle éventuellement substitué ou alcényle éventuellement substitué; R4 représente hydrogène, alkyle éventuellement substitué ou alkynyle éventuellement substitué, ou l'atome de carbone adjacent à R3 et celui adjacent à cet atome peuvent former une double liaison pour produire un squelette benzothiophène, ou R3 et R4 sont combinés pour former un cycle spiro comprenant 5 à 8 éléments et pouvant contenir un ou plusieurs hétéroatomes tels qu'oxygène, soufre ou azote; et n vaut un entier de 0 à 2. Le composé (I) présente une activité d'inhibition de la dénaturation oxydative de LDL et est utile en tant que remède contre l'artériosclérose.
