L'invention concerne des huiles multigrades 5W20, 5W30, 10W40, 10W50, 15W40 ou 15W50, peu volatiles et destinées à lubrifier le carter de moteurs à essence et Diesel, ces huiles comprenant: a) une huile de base possédant un indice de neutralisation d'au moins 105 pour une huile multigrade de 5W, un indice de neutralisation d'au moins 145 pour une huile multigrade de 10W et un indice de neutralisation d'au moins 200 pour une huile multigrade de 15W; b) un mélange d'additifs à base d'inhibiteurs et de détergents comprenant un dispersant sans cendre comportant un squelette d'hydrocarbure polymère soluble dans l'huile qui possède des groupes fonctionnels dans lesquels le squelette d'hydrocarbure est dérivé d'un copolymère d'éthylène et d'alpha-oléfine (EAO), ou d'un homo ou copolymère alpha-oléfinique possédant un poids moléculaire Mn compris entre 500 et 7000, ainsi que, de préférence, moins de 30 % d'insaturation vinylidène terminale; et c) un modificateur de viscosité. Ces huiles multigrades sont supérieures car moins volatiles, leur consommation est réduite sans même qu'il soit nécessaire de leur ajouter des huiles de base légères, à faible viscosité et chères, ou des huiles de bases lubrifiantes non classiques, et elles permettent en même temps de limiter de façon adéquate la formation de boue et de vernis.
